Matilda Case's quiet world has been shattered and now she
is
on the run, hiding from both the eleven Houses that rule
her
world as well as the immortal galvanized who used to aid
the
Houses. Unfortunately, a war between the galvanized and
the
Houses are not her only concern. Matilda has now learned
that a time shift could occur very soon and destroy
everything and everyone she loves, including her own
galvanized body. Will Matilda, Abraham, Neds, Quinten, and
Gloria be able to change the events of the past in order
to
prevent the certain destruction of their current lives?
INFINITY BELL is the second book in Devon Monk's House
Immortal series and picks up immediately where the
first
book, House Immortal ends. I highly suggest reading the
books in order as the world building and character
development have been fully fleshed out already and
INFINITY
BELL jumps right into the current world at a crisis point.
From the very first page, Devon Monk plunges the reader
headlong into the midst of the action as the intensity
doesn't let up.
I can't rave enough about Devon Monk's spectacular world
building! INFINITY BELL is set in a world unlike any
other,
as we essentially have a feudal system in place with each
ruling House containing one of the galvanized- immortal
beings who are stitched together, much like Frankenstein's
monster. The complexity of the world is astounding as
Devon
Monk makes a seemingly unbelievable concept seem not only
real but even makes the somewhat hideous sounding
galvanized
quite heroic and attractive.
Matilda is the first new galvanized since the Wings of
Mercury experiment that created the galvanized. In
INFINITY
BELL, Matilda is starting to adjust and accept her
prominent
leadership role and I absolutely love how she handles the
concluding scenes of INFINITY BELL. I like that we are
seeing her relationships grow and evolve, particularly as
we
learn more about her brother, Quinten.
Devon Monk is quickly becoming one of my favorite urban
fantasy authors as her clever twists, phenomenal world
building, and superb character development ensure that any
book she writes is guaranteed to be an engrossing and
thrilling read. INFINITY BELL is further proof of how well
Devon Monk's talented writing skills and vivid imagination
weave together the perfect story. My only regret with
finishing INFINITY BELL is that I have to wait on the
third
book in the series to come out! INFINITY BELL is highly
recommended for all urban fantasy fans.
Return to national bestselling author Devon Monk's heartpounding House Immortal series, where eleven powerful Houses control the world and all its resources. But now, the treaty between them has been broken, and no one—not even the immortal galvanized—is safe.... Matilda Case isn’t normal. Normal people aren’t stitched together, inhumanly strong, and ageless, as she and the other galvanized are. Normal people’s bodies don’t hold the secret to immortality—something the powerful Houses will kill to possess. And normal people don’t know that they’re going to die in a few days. Matilda’s fight to protect the people she loves triggered a chaotic war between the Houses and shattered the world’s peace. On the run, she must find a way to stop the repeat of the ancient time experiment that gifted her and the other galvanized with immortality. Because this time, it will destroy her and everything she holds dear. Caught in a cat-and-mouse game of lies, betrayal, and unseen foes, Matilda must fight to save the world from utter destruction. But time itself is her enemy, and every second brings her one step closer to disaster....
