As a man of money and prestige, Maks has no qualms about paying for what he wants. While not as romantic, this does stay true to this character. Maks isn't a gentlemen who woos his woman. He's far more aggressive and impatient for that. So he is willing to pay Cat for details about herself; her real name, her deepest desires. Depending on readers, this will affect how enjoyable and believable the story is as it is the main premise and a significant part of Maksimilian's personality.

Kresley Cole doesn't play by the rules in THE MASTER. Where would the fun be in that?
