With his dragon form fading thanks to his fated mate's
reluctance to accept him, Darius Dachien is starting to
feel the desperation. He is the head of security for the
Crown Jewel Casino, a hidden dragonshifter sanctuary, but
how can he continue as such if he can no longer shift. If
Mei doesn't accept him soon he will lose his ability to
become a dragon. There is no way he can become a caveman
and DRAGON HER BACK to keep him whole... even though that
is
very tempting.
Mei Chen cannot deny the chemistry between herself and
Darius but a terrible secret must keep her from choosing
her hearts desire. Everyone thinks she is an ice-dragon
just as Darius is but it isn't true ... that is only her
cover. When her past catches up with her she must tell the
truth ... she must reveal her true self even though she
knows
that it will destroy her. But if she doesn't it might
destroy Darius.
DRAGON HER BACK is the sizzling return to author Susannah
Scott's Las Vegas Dragon's series. Darius and Mei were
secondary characters in the past books but this one is all
about them. I would have never guessed Mei's secret, but I
did applaud her way of handling things when push came to
shove. Ms. Scott introduces another group of not so
trustful dragons, that were actually thought to be extinct
and very dangerous and Alec the king of the dragon's has
to
deal with them on top of everything else that happens. I
loved returning to the Crown Jewel and the past characters
... it actually had me going back to reread the other
books
which I enjoyed doing. This story is smoothly written with
the characters consistent and even though this is fantasy
and they are dragons ... believable. I can't wait to see
what
happens in this world next.
How To Claim Your Dragon...
As the head of security of Vegas's Crown Jewel casino?and its hidden
dragonshifter sanctuary?ice dragon Darius Dachien commands respect.
Unfortunately, that respect isn't always reciprocated. In fact, when it
comes to the stunning Mei Chen, hostility might be a better word. Which
makes things even harder for Darius, since Mei is his dragon mate. Without
her, his dragon form is fading fast...and once lost, will be gone forever.
Mei can't deny the fierce chemistry that simmers between them. If Darius
were ever to discover who?or rather, what?she really is, she wouldn't just
lose him, but her place with the dragonshifters. The moment Mei's past comes
crashing into her present, she realizes her time for secrets has ended. Now
she must reveal her true self...and risk both her life and her heart with
the one man who could destroy her.

Mei stared at him from the tethered distance of three
feet way, her face a melee of concern and false bravado.
“What romantic weekend destination would please you?”
Darius tilted his head sideways as if trying to come up
with the answer, and then shook his head. “I’ve no
fucking clue, because I don’t know a damn thing about you
and why you keep lying to me.”
“I am not lying,” she said with too much force and not
enough contractions.

“Best workout ever.” Darius sat next to her and rested
his back against the soft mat.
She laughed and fumbled to put on her bra. He lifted the
weight of her hair from her back and helped her pull down
her silk shirt.
For a moment, he held the length of her hair in his hand
as he had the swing rope. He tugged gently to turn her
face to his, and then released it. His face was open and
relaxed, his pale blue eyes warm and content.
His knees fell open to rest against hers. The feel of
skin on skin, bone to bone, was easy, the most natural
thing in the world. “Next time we should try the pommel
horse.”
Mei laughed. “You still got pommeling on your mind?”
“Oh yeah.”

“I thought…” Mei raised her face to him, beseeching and
vulnerable, so that he knew that whatever she said next
was the truth.
Right. The truth according to Mei.
It only meant she herself believed it, not that it was
the actual truth.
“You wouldn’t know the truth if it bit you in the ass.”
“What?” She snapped her head back as if dodging a blow,
but quickly recovered. “I get that you’re angry.”
“Really? What gave it away?”

Holding her gaze, Darius lowered his body into an iron
cross.
“Are you showing off?” Her tone was teasing, and her
speculative gaze up and down his body sent tiny tingles
of awareness shooting through him that had nothing to do
with exertion.
“Are you impressed?”
“No.” But she continued watching him, her lips parted in
admiration.

“Is this a date?” Mei smiled, and he saw in her
expression that she liked the idea of pretending things
were normal. “I thought we were running for our lives.”
“That’s just the foreplay.” He rested his forehead
against hers.
She laughed against him, and he knew, just knew, they
were going to make it. They had to. But first, they had
to make it to Monday.
