Jillian Sullivan is returning to her home of Cunningham
Falls Montana, after her ex broke her heart. But home
means seeing Zack King again. They had a one-night stand
that ended abruptly, but Jill hopes that, in spite of it
all, they can remain friends. It's not easy because she
cannot deny the attraction she still harbours towards
him, but they cannot be, they should not be; they both
have too much baggage. She tries very hard to convince
herself that she should feel sparks for Max Hull, an old
friend, but it's pointless. Jill thinks Zach does not
want her, but she's wrong. And after learning of the
misunderstanding that caused the rift with Zack, Jill is
less reluctant to try and give Zack a second chance, but
shadows from the past threaten to shatter their fragile
relationship.
FALLING FOR JILLIAN is book three in the Love Under
the
Big Sky series, and can easily be read as a
standalone, mostly because Ms. Proby demonstrates a real
flair for creating, and depicting, characters who seem
real, who come alive on the page. She creates a climate
of intimacy, depicting small-town life in all its mundane
little details, making it very easy to appreciate life on
the ranch and feel part of the extended family.
Ms. Proby also uses the dual narrative effect to great
success: Jill and Zack's points of view flow so well on
into the other, that it seems as if they were completing
each other's thoughts. We feel included in the
characters' story and yet not like voyeurs when the
scorching, hot, passionate sex scenes occur. And although
I'm not always a fan of children in romances, I really
liked Zach's son, Seth; he's every bit the 12-year old
boy, and his presence adds Jill and Zach' relationship
rather than detract from it.
FALLING FOR JILLIAN is a quick read, mostly because of
the author's seamless, uncluttered prose, and the easy
and natural dialogues. Kristen Proby is a very efficient
writer and at the same time casts a magical spell on
commonplace happenings and basic human feelings. FALLING
FOR JILLIAN is a touching story with light, sweet
touches, and very sexy moments; a very beautiful book.
From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes
the third romance in the Love Under the Big Sky series,
featuring a veteran struggling with PTSD and the one woman
who can help him recover—and learn to love again.
Jillian thought she was a city girl through and through;
the
fast cars, high fashion, and glamour—she loves it all. But
when her ex tells her he’s having a baby with his new wife
(after Jillian struggled for years to get pregnant), she
hightails it back to Montana to cry on the shoulder of her
best friend, Cara.
But in truth, Jillian would rather be comforted by someone
else…specifically Zack, Cara’s brother-in-law. Zack is a
veteran of the Iraq War who came back to the family ranch
to
raise his preteen son after the boy’s mother took off.
He’s
struggling to re-establish a relationship with his son,
and
warding off the demons of PTSD, which still haunt him.
The last thing he needs is bold, brassy Jillian…but why
can’t he keep his hands off her?
