Marley was so down on her luck that she had to turn to hooking to be able to eat. She doesn't like it much, but she does what it takes to survive; she has no family to speak of. One lonely evening, she is sitting in a bar, hoping she'll score a john, when a nerdy older gentleman approaches her. He deduces she must be a working girl, and since the prostitute who was supposed to meet his employer didn't turn up, he asks her if she would be interested in the proposition he has for her: $5000 for a night of playing daddy's girl is an offer Marley cannot afford to refuse. And when she meets James, her Daddy for one night, she feels she might even enjoy herself.
Talk about stepping out of my comfort zone and loving it! DADDY MOREBUCKS is a very unapologetic look at the Domination/Submission lifestyle, and I think that is why it works so well. Marley and James are good, honest people, and while she's lacking direction, he's all about knowing what he wants and how to get it. He's a self-made millionaire, and he embraces his sexual proclivities: that's who he is. He's a Dom, he likes playing Daddy, and he makes no bones about it. He's all about respect and Marley, who hasn't had much in her life, is grateful to get it from him. Her stint as a prostitute makes it easier to understand the lifestyle; she is easy-going, she likes James, and it will provide her with much-needed money; she has nothing to lose. James shuns relationships because he's been burned before, but things are different with Marley because she takes everything is stride.
DADDY MOREBUCKS is a real love story with a lot of seriously scorching sex, sex play with various toys and implements, and much dirty talk, but the respect and affection that Marley and James share make it a much more convincing romance than what we often experience in most "traditional romances". DADDY MOREBUCKS is an extremely quick read because it's so much fun! Marley and James are delightful, engaging, and endearing in their candour; they are so refreshing in their straightforward approach to their relationship, which at first is more of a business deal. But they truly like each other, they are obviously sexually compatible, and they just let things happen.
DADDY MOREBUCKS isn't a sick, twisted relationship, as some readers might assume; DADDY MOREBUCKS defines what sex between consensual adults really mean as well as being open-minded, which is how Marley looks at it. I am not a habitual reader of Bondage/Domination/Submission/Masochism romances, and I loved the book; I felt at ease with the subject, which rather surprised me. Ms. Alleman's prose is fluid, seamless, and so easy to read; the author simply disappears and lets her characters be. Ms. Alleman doesn't sugarcoat the alternative lifestyle; she simply states what is, and the result is that DADDY MOREBUCKS is a sunny, unusual and very enjoyable romance!
