Heather Peters is recovering from a kidnapping at the Spencer ranch in northwest Texas. She needs it, after seeing and experiencing things no one should see. Marcus Cunningham is watching the ranch closely he wants to make sure that this refuge is real and he can find the peace from his family he so wants. He wants a place where he will not be BETRAYED.

Marcus' family, especially his grandfather is the leader of Romulus, a subversive shifter organization. He will not be part of this and is seeking refuge himself, but he's not ready yet but when Heather goes down with a snakebite he can't just leave her there he must help. It's not just the good guy that he is ... she's his mate and she's in danger.

He must find the strength to face the Spencer's and his mate with the information he has. It could cause a war between those who want to preserve their way of life and those like Romulus who want to rule the world. Good versus evil and it will take everything Marcus' has to protect his mate and the people he has grown to love.

BETRAYED is an endearing, page turning paranormal romance. I say endearing because the romance between Heather and Marcus is a sweet one with just the right amount of spice to peak interest. I liked how he was a cross between a nerd and alpha and she was strong but didn't come off as know- it- all. In other words just right for each other. I have read a number of Becca Jameson's books (in fact I loved Tarnished, Book one of this series) and usually they are fast past this one is also but it did seem a little on the rushed side with a few too many lose ends that were tied in knots at the end or not tied up at all. As always Ms. Jameson has written a story that will keep you reading and wanting to get more of her Wolf Gathering series.
