Thriller
No one could have imagined the crazy, twisted sort of
domino
effect that would occur on the day that the doctor gave
Kenny Drummond the news of his death sentence. There is a
cancerous tumor in his brain that is aggressively growing.
In short, it is killing him and he only has a very few
weeks
left on this earth.
Kenny is used to bad news and bad things happening to him.
His entire life has been like that except for his ex-wife
Mary and his best friend Stever. He still loves them both
dearly even though they are now married to each other.
They
are both his best friends in the world and they will take
the news hard. He has to tell them soon, but for now, he
wants to make up a list of people that he feels he needs
to
make things right with.
It was a short list and the last person on it is Carrie
Barton, the girl who had made his sad existence when he
was
a child just a little easier and happier. He never got to
tell her how much she meant to him and he really wants to
do
that before he died. Finding her after all these years
proves to be harder than he imagined. It seems that Carrie
went missing four years earlier and was never found. Her
husband Jonathan had been a suspect in her disappearance
for
a long time, but with no proof, they have not been able to
arrest him. This is all very useful information to him
because it is clear how he can make things "right" for
Carrie.
He must find out what happened to her and insure that she
gets justice. The first place to start is her husband and
Kenny is a man with nothing to lose.
CAPTURED is highly engrossing book. It's almost like
watching something so horribly personal that you are
ashamed
for the inability to look away. Kenny Drummond is one of
the
most memorable characters in recent memory. The actions he
undertakes to discover what really happened to Carrie will
make your jaw drop and keep your brain struggling to
process
everything that is happening.
With CAPTURED, Neil Cross has dropped his readers into a
world of reality that is almost too hard to take at times,
but is always, always mesmerizing. I was hooked from the
first page and could not let go as more twists and turns
kept me as breathless as if I was on a roller coaster. If
you enjoy well-written, chilling stories that will make
you
reach for several light switches while reading, do
yourself
a favor and get a copy of CAPTURED as soon as possible!
