Thriller
The world thinks Mia Morrissey is dead... but Mia is going
to
risk everything as she returns to America, the land that
forced her into the Registry and a marriage to the highest
bidding male, Grant Marsden. Grant is willing to do
anything
to gain power and seeks to assume the role of the grand
commander of America. Will Mia and her new associates
with
the rebel group, Affinity, be able to stop Grant and
destroy
the Registry?
THE ALLIANCE is the third and final installment in Shannon
Stoker's Registry> series. I would suggest reading it
in the context of the series as a whole as the various
characters and story threads are all coming together in
one
spectacular confrontation. Shannon Stoker has several
surprises in store for readers as things are moving
quickly
and there is little time for a recap for new readers.
Shannon Stoker's characters are not static as they
continue
to grow and evolve with each subsequent novel in the
trilogy. In particular, Mia is starting to have doubts
about
her own role as she is starting to look inward and examine
herself and what she wants and believes. Mia is becoming
more of a woman in her own right and her relationship with
Andrew is also maturing in the process. I love that
Shannon
Stoker explores this aspect with Mia as it would have been
an easy plot device to simply cheer her on to success
without addressing her continued role as a pawn, albeit by
a
more female-friendly organization than the Registry. I
also
really like the new character of Florence "Flo" Martineau
as
she aids Mia in her emotional growth.
THE ALLIANCE is a fast paced dystopian tale that keeps the
reader rapidly flipping the pages. I like that we get a
taste of the history of the Registry through the brief
diary/journal entries as it takes THE ALLIANCE full
circle.
Shannon Stoker has crafted a trilogy that is well worth
reading and is easily recommended for fan of young adult
dystopian novels.
