It had been years ... years of pain and drowning in regret and alcohol for Adam Brascum. He's sober now had been for years ... which isn't easy considering he runs a bar and everyone is gathering there to discuss the allegations that had shattered his hometown. He feels the past he had tried to erase come back and it's SWEETER THAN SIN.
Then she comes back to town out of the blue, heating up every fantasy that Adam had ever had. He knows there is a killer out there seeking vengeance, ready to explode into violence and Lana Rossi might be targeted. Lana had been Adam's friend and growing obsession then she disappeared. Adam knows he must protect her because he realized that all the years of pain were because she had taken his heart when she disappeared from his life.
SWEETER THAN SIN is in my eyes a dark, gritty, intricate study of human survival. Adam and Lana both did what they had to do to endure their pasts, coming back to the beginning to really break it down and sort it out. If you haven't read author Shiloh Walker previous Secrets and Shadows books, you might be a little lost as it is very complex. I can't really say this is my favorite book by Ms. Walker, not because of the writing it is fantastic as always ... but the topic this series deals with is one I personally find disturbing. I found myself reading this book believing it to be mainly about love lost and found with a lot of pain in between.
