Romance Historical
Happy Holiday to all from Jane Feather in the form of a
novella titled A HOLIDAY GAMBLE. Here's the scoop it's
never a gamble purchasing a book by Jane Feather even one
that is obviously designed to be a short story. But don't
mistake short for small. A HOLIDAY GAMBLE is big in story
content and character development all distinctions of
Jane Feather books.
This story takes place in Regency-era
England and is rich with details of that period. Lovers
of historical romance will truly enjoy A HOLIDAY GAMBLE.
Each page is jammed pack with action -- so much so that I
kept referring to the number of pages in this novella.
Jane Feather absolutely does not shortchange her fans
with this lovely engaging story line. True to form the
only negative is that readers will want more.
A HOLIDAY GAMBLE introduces some very interesting
characters, some likeable others not so much. So from the
onset we are already choosing sides. The basic story is
about Viscount "Ned" Allerton who gets caught in a
blizzard and to make matters worse while hoping to find
safe haven to wait out the storm he gets robbed. Ned is
returning home aware that he will need to invest money
and time to refurbish his family estate.
Ned considered himself fortunate that he came upon an
estate that welcomed his little party to wait out the
blizzard. What he found was an intriguing group of
Christmas partygoers who had fun on their agenda. Ned was
also confounded by an undercurrent of deception that
involved several of these attendants. He was fairly
certain that the young ward of his host was somehow in a
precarious maybe even dangerous position. Lady Georgiana
is a rather free spirit. It's that spirit and sass that
attracts Ned. Now he has to decide whether to get
involved in the situation Georgiana has found herself.
A HOLIDAY GAMBLE is a delight from the first page to the
last. This is a reprint of a story that had appeared in a
collection of holiday stories and is now being released
as a solo novella.
