Young Adult Science Fiction

Dai, Jin, and Mei Yee are all trapped in the Walled City, a place of nightmares, death, and corruption. Dai is running from his past and is on a secret mission. For one of his drug runs, he needs a quick runner, and he finds Jin, a girl disguised as a boy, who is trying to find her sister, Mei Yee. Mei Yee is living in a brothel, stuck watching the girls who try to run get hurt and nearly helpless to do anything about it. When the three paths of theirs collide, they may find a way out of the dangerous city. THE WALLED CITY is packed with nonstop action and incredible world building. Ryan Graudin spins a tale full of danger, despair, and the strong bonds that tie people to one another, even in the most desperate of places. From the beginning, readers will be on the edge of their seat, wondering like the characters what new danger is around the corner. The three protagonists are each complex and unique, all with a desire to find a better future away from the Walled City. Dai's character runs especially deep as he tries to find good in himself that he believes isn't there. As the characters face a horrific antagonist, they each develop beautifully as they discover how much they are willing to pay to get what they want. A marvelous page turner, THE WALLED CITY is not a book to miss. With excitement, layer after layer of world building, family bonds, and just a dash of romance, Ryan Graudin's latest book stands brimming with originality, perfect for readers who love a story they can't put down.
