Darcy Archer lives in Manhattan, the city she believes is
"the most magical city in the world."
She loves her job as manager of Chaucer's, a small, cozy
bookstore. Darcy loves books and reading, longing to meet
her very own Mr Darcy. She believes dreams can come true
in this city and is waiting for her own Prince Charming,
and
will accept nothing less. A condition known as
bibliolatry,
a person too fond of books, is an apt description of Darcy
Archer.
Darcy lives in a tiny apartment over Luigi's, a popular
Italian restaurant, barely nodding at her neighbor who
lives
right across the hall. When she was 12 years old both
parents were killed in an auto accident and her Aunt
Katherine became responsible for her care. Aunt Katherine
made it possible for Darcy to attend Columbia University
where she achieved a Master of Fine Arts in Writing.
Barely making ends meet from her paltry salary at the
bookstore, and unable to afford a car, Darcy travels
everywhere on her bike. A little late for work, Darcy puts
the pedal to the metal, and runs straight into a man
walking his dog. Unconscious, an ambulance arrives along
with the police and he is taken to the nearest hospital.
The handsome dog, still leashed, remains sitting and
staring
at her. Oh, oh trouble. How can she leave the dog? And
what harm did she do to the man now being brought to the
ER?
A lawsuit in her future?. She must find who he is and
arrange a reunion with his pet.
At the ER at Roosevelt Hospital, Darcy finds Aidan Harris.
When he becomes conscious, he has no memory of where he is
or who he is. However, he is sweet, handsome, charming and
Darcy decides to help him. The mystery to discover his
past and present is well crafted and very engaging.
Bailey
leads Darcy to a gorgeous brownstone right off Central
Park
West. With the key on the Cartier key ring Aiden gave
her,
she enters a magnificent home. Hanging in the foyer is a
Rothko painting worth a fortune. The house is exquisite,
filled with gorgeous furnishings, and a whole library of
beautiful books. Darcy, however, is more concerned in
finding photos to bring to Aiden to refresh his memory.
A GIFT TO REMEMBER is a story to warm your heart and you
will struggle if
you have to put it down. You will fall in love with the
characters especially Aidan, who truly was quite literally
knocked off his feet. As a dog lover, I loved Bailey the
blue-eyed husky, who is lovable, smart, and steals
everyone's heart. Especially appealing to me is Lizzy,
the progeny of Bailey who makes her appearance on the
final
pages I hope she will return in a sequel.
A GIFT TO REMEMBER is truly a special read with twist and
coming and an ending that was charming. Melissa Hill has
a special read with twists and turns that I did not see a
new fan who loves her writing and plans to share this news
with all her reading friends.
From Melissa Hill, author of A Gift from Tiffany's, comes A
Gift to Remember—another New York Christmas love story to
warm your heart
Darcy Archer works in a small bookstore in Manhattan. A
daydream believer, she refuses to settle for anything less
than being swept off her feet by the perfect man… literally.
One day, when cycling to work, Darcy accidentally crashes
into a sharply dressed gentleman walking his dog. He is
knocked out cold, rushed to hospital and the poor pup gets
left behind. Wracked with guilt, Darcy takes the dog and
makes plans to reunite him with his owner, Aidan. As she
discovers the mysterious stranger's world of books, travel,
adventure and all the wonderful things she's ever dreamed
about, Darcy builds a picture of this man and wonders if he
could be THE ONE…
But does fantasy match reality? What happens when Prince
Charming wakes up? Will Aidan be the happy ever after she's
always imagined?
