New Adult

Grey and Ben had been together since they were thirteen. They both knew that when they were older, they would get married. Their best friend was Jagger. They did everything together. Little did they know that Jagger also had deep feelings for Grey.

The three of them even went to the same college together. The day before Grey and Ben's wedding the unthinkable happens. Ben has a heart attack and dies. Grey is inconsolable. The only one that can get though to her is Jagger.

Fast forward two years. It is the day of college graduation. Jagger knows that this is going to be a very hard day for Grey. No one else wants to even mention Ben's name on this day.

They both decide to move back to their home town. Jagger has his art, Grey not so sure what she wants to do with her life. Jagger and Grey spend so much time together that before long they both realize that they want to be together. Grey is having a very hard time with this. She feels that she is betraying Ben. And on top of all of this, someone has hacked into Ben's facebook age and phone leaving messages for Grey asking her how could she do this to them.

I believe that Molly McAdams uses her writing to send a message. The message in LETTING GO is that sometimes things are closer that you think. I have read several of Molly McAdams books and I believe they are new adult books. Molly McAdams writes flawed characters and this makes it easy for the reader to believe that they could be real and keeps readers turning pages until the end of the book.

SUMMARY

The New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author returns with a sizzling novel of love, loss, guilt, and forgiveness.

Grey and Ben fell in love at thirteen and believed they’d be together forever. But three days before their wedding, the twenty-year-old groom-to-be suddenly died from an unknown heart condition, destroying his would-be-bride’s world. If it hadn’t been for their best friend, Jagger, Grey never would have made it through those last two years to graduation. He’s the only one who understands her pain, the only one who knows what it’s like to force yourself to keep moving when your dreams are shattered. Jagger swears he’ll always be there for her, but no one has ever been able to hold on to him. He’s not the kind of guy to settle down.

It’s true that no one has ever been able to keep Jagger— because he’s only ever belonged to Grey. While everyone else worries over Grey’s fragility, he’s the only one who sees her strength. Yet as much as he wants Grey, he knows her heart will always be with Ben. Still they can’t deny the heat that is growing between them—a passion that soon becomes too hot to handle. But admitting their feelings for each other means they’ve got to face the past. Is being together what Ben would have wanted . . . or a betrayal of his memory that will eventually destroy them both?
