Cara DeLuca is the epitome of control. While recovering from an eating disorder, she turns to the events planning job she loves that allows her to manage everything. While planning her sister's wedding, she made a mistake she doesn't want to think about, but also can't forget. Shane Doyle, new Irish pastry chef at her work, is now married to her after a drunk night in Vegas. As Cara tries to take control of the situation and get an annulment, all while keeping the secret from their friends and family, Shane will show her how much she needs to relax.
ALL FIRED UP by Kate Meader is a lovely romance with some super steamy scenes. Though the beginning is a little confusing, having the two main characters, Cara and Shane, start off already post-drunken-wedding is a fun twist. The exposition of the characters' personalities following their wild act makes the story shine. Cara is recovering from an eating disorder, and her journey is so powerful. The psychology of her character is well done with her need for control and her feelings of isolation from her family. Shane's journey is excellent as well with his need to be a part of a family and feel loved. The two of them trying to figure each other out together while dealing with their individual problems makes this a quick, page-turning read.
While the characters are wonderful, Shane's character descriptions feel somewhat out of place. Meader seems to try to combine the sexy-Irishman character with the stereotypical cowboy, and it feels odd and a bit unsuccessful. However, this certainly doesn't stop him from having jaw-dropping dialogue that will make readers blush uncontrollably.
Kate Meader writes a delicious and enjoyable story in ALL FIRED UP. Cara and Shane may have some inconsistencies, but that doesn't keep them from being wonderful and well-developed characters that will pull you in from page one and leave you breathless by the last page.
