Fresh Fiction Review

Fantasy Urban

Emma is a siren, cursed by Demeter because she failed to protect Persephone. She works for the FBI searching for missing people. Emma hopes that one day she will find enough people to receive redemption from Demeter.

Emma and her partner Zack have been called in for a case involving three missing girls. They hit dead end after dead end in their search until a path leads to Emma's lover, the vampire king.

Fighting her feeling for Zack, the man she has been told by Demeter to stay away from and the man she is currently seeing, Emma must focus and find the girls before it is too late for them.

I really enjoyed RECKONING by S. J. Harper. S.J. Harper is a pen name by two authors, Samatha Summersby and Jeanne Stein, who work together to write the series and they are a great team. RECKONING is book two in the series but reads well as a standalone. This is my introduction to the series and I don't plan on missing any more of the books. RECKONING is a great urban fantasy, loaded with action, excitement and the ever present love triangle. I have to say though I am on team Kallistos, but liking Zack at the same time. Should be exciting to see where they are going to take this series. I can visualize a perfect ending and awkward family gatherings after a bunch of good books.

RECKONING is a story all lovers of urban fantasy and good reading should pick up and devour.

SUMMARY

Join Agents Emma Monroe and Zack Armstrong.

She’s sacrificed. He’s suffered. They’ve both been betrayed.

Now it’s time for a reckoning.

Special Agent Emma Monroe has a secret. She’s a Fallen Siren, cursed by the gods and banished to Earth for her failure to prevent the kidnapping of Persephone. As an FBI agent she saves the lives of others believing redemption could be one rescue away.

Her partner Zack is a werewolf and former Black Ops sniper who once carried out a string of questionable assignments. Now he’s determined to atone for his past. Ironically, there’s a portion of his past Zack doesn’t remember—an affair with Emma. Giving into their attraction for one another almost led to their undoing. Now it’s back to business as usual.

While trying to unravel the mystery behind a series of kidnappings in Southern California, Emma and Zack become entangled with political tensions in the vampire and Were worlds. Not to mention the struggles they face in their relationship with one another. With so much uncertainty, they come to realize the only thing they can really count on is one another…or can they?
