Holiday | Romance Contemporary

Susan Mallery returns us to Fool's Gold with two delightful Christmas stories. Noelle Perkins has just moved to Fool's Gold to start over with her life. She has opened The Christmas Attic on 4th Street and is looking forward to a good seasonal business. While doing a favor for a friend, she meets Dr. Gabriel Boylan, a trauma specialist with the military, here to visit his brother over the holidays. Gabriel is a cynic, a scrooge who would rather work during the holidays than be with his disconnected family, especially his mom and dad. Gabe is only here because of an injury to his hand that prevents him from working. Noelle's personality is just the opposite. Her trials of the past have given her a new perspective on life, and she is living it to the fullest. There's an instant attraction between them, but can Gabe overcome his outlook on life and give Noelle what she desperately longs for? Ms. Mallery adds a novella at the end of CHRISTMAS ON 4TH STREET: YOURS FOR CHRISTMAS that gives us an update on Kenny Scott and Bailey Voss. Kenny is the last of the SCORE partners to succumb to love. Bailey and her daughter Chloe are trying to make a new life without her husband and Chloe's father, who was killed in Afghanistan two years ago. Kenny is attracted to Bailey, but putting his heart out there for Chloe is a problem. Past hurts and disappointments are keeping him from finding love. Will there be some holiday magic in Fool's Gold for Kenny and Bailey? I just love Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series! It's good to return from time to time and catch up with old friends. Ms. Mallery's characters are so realistic, you can't help but feel the same emotions they are feeling. You'll laugh with them, cry with them and hurt with them. The storylines don't always take an expected route to find love. Fool's Gold is a magical place all year round, but at Christmastime, there is even more magic in the air. There is a sense of belonging, a connection, and you just can't help but find happiness.

SUMMARY

There's nowhere better to spend the holidays than with New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery in the town of Fool's Gold, where love is always waiting to be unwrapped. Noelle Perkins just got a second chance at life, and she intends to make the most of it. That's why she's opening her own store in Fool's Gold, California. The Christmas Attic celebrates everything that's magical about her favorite season. Business is booming, and as a bonus, gorgeous army doctor Gabriel Boylan has offered to help out during the holiday rush. Gabriel's memories of Christmas past contain more sour grapes than sugarplums, thanks to his drill sergeant father. Spending the holidays with his family while he recuperates from an injury sounds as appetizing as last year's eggnog. Still, there are some enjoyable distractions in town, including sunny, sexy Noelle-and the red-hot mistletoe kisses they can't stop sharing. Gabriel didn't think he was made for happily-ever-afters. But when fate hands you a love as sweet and surprising as this, only a fool could refuse.
