THE CHRISTMAS LIGHT is beautiful little Christmas book
telling the story
of different people in a small town, each with their own
problems. Jen and
her six year old daughter Avery are trying to move on from
a tragedy that
took Avery's dad and Jen's husband away from them much too
soon. It's
been three years and they aren't making much progress.
Ryan and his six year old daughter Sophia are learning how
to move on
after Ryan's wife tells him she isn't happy anymore and
has met someone
else. He is doing the best he can and thinks that maybe a
change in
employment and a move away from Grandon is just what he
and Sophia
need to start over.
Kaylee is sixteen years old and about to have a baby.
Her boyfriend wants
nothing to do with her or the child he helped create.
Kaylee is torn with
what to do with her life and the baby that is on the way
until she meets Lily
and her husband Steve. She also gets involved in the
church that Lily is a
member of and that seems to help her. So as you can see,
everyone has
troubles and they are all looking for some guidance and
help.
The townspeople of Grandon are all trying to help each
other overcome
their troubles and at the same time they are trying to put
together the
Nativity play that they present at church each and every
year.
THE
CHRISTMAS LIGHT is an uplifting story of letting go,
moving on,
happiness, love, and faith. It is a quick read and I read
it in one sitting. I
had tears in my eyes and a huge lump in my throat when I
was finished. It
is the kind of story that will stay with you long after
you finish reading.
You heart will hurt for each of these people who you will
get to know in the
short time you are reading all about them.
Donna VanLiere writes the best heart warming books ever. I
loved THE
CHRISTMAS LIGHT. I love how it deals with friendship,
holiday romance,
and family. Donna VanLiere also includes words of
inspiration at the
beginning of each chapter but it doesn't come across as
preachy. It's
perfect for the chapter you are reading. I have always
reached for Donna VanLiere's
books during the holiday season and when I found out she
had a new one
coming out I was very eager to devour it. Her stories
always leave me with
a smile on my face and a longing to read more by this
wonderful and
thoughtful author. She describes small town America to a
tee and I wish
Grandon were real so I could go and live there and find
lifelong friends just
like the ones in this story.
In the small town of Grandon, five very different people discover the true meaning of Christmas. Jennifer and Ryan are both single parents, struggling with their own losses and heartache as they attempt to move forward in the present while still holding onto the memories, joy, and heartache of the past. Sixteen-year-old Kaylee is faced with a life-changing situation that has affected her whole family. Stephen and Lily are happily married and ready to start a family. All of them are facing their own struggles, and all are finding their way through the dark. When they are brought together for a rather unconventional church Nativity, they will learn that with strength, courage, and love, there is always hope. The New York Times bestselling author of the beloved The Christmas Hope series returns with this new heartwarming, inspirational story about the power of love and faith to reveal the possibilities that lay right in front of you.
