CHAINED BY NIGHT is Book 2 in Larissa Ione's MoonBound Clan Vampires" series. Larissa Ione does provide some background information for readers who might not have read the previous book. However, I highly recommend reading Book one before reading CHAINED BY NIGHT -- preferably reading one right after the other.

I am a huge Larissa Ione fan and I like vampire stories, so CHAINED BY NIGHT is right in my comfort zone. I found CHAINED BY NIGHT to be just as entertaining as the first book in this series. As someone who reads vampire fiction, I like that this MoonBound Clan series is different from a lot of what's out there. This series takes place in a modern setting but there is also an archaic feel to some of the vampire clans. And rather than the vampires all being dead people come back to life, there are beings that were born vampires.

I love Larissa Ione's world-building in this series. Sometimes, if there are too many characters and too many fantasy elements in a series, I tend to disconnect from it. It can be too overwhelming. This is not the case for me with this book. Not only are the characters in CHAINED BY NIGHT intriguing, but the interconnected relationships and variety of people and places make for a fascinating story. The fast-paced action and exciting storyline had me glued to the page from the beginning.

There are so many things going on in CHAINED BY NIGHT and I love all of them. Aylin makes a great heroine. She grew up in a very violent and Darwinian environment. Add to that the fact that she was born crippled and that only made her odds of survival that much worse. However, she is a survivor and a fighter and I like that about her. Her spirit was never crushed, in spite of everything she had to deal with. Part of CHAINED BY NIGHT tells the story of a warrior's journey, but it is not just for the hero. Aylin proves how strong she is -- both mentally and in spirit. I love that she's also intelligent and that ends up being one of the things the hero appreciates about her.

The love story in CHAINED BY NIGHT between Aylin and vampire clan leader Hunter is delicious. The chemistry between them, right from the first moment, is great and generates lots of heat. Larissa Ione provides just the right balance between super sexiness and relationship development. Their personalities blend so well together and there is a wonderful and very easy comradery along with the intense attraction.

CHAINED BY NIGHT is an example of great story-telling combined with smoking hot romance. CHAINED BY NIGHT captivated me from beginning to end and the characters pulled me in. I eagerly await the next installment in this fabulous paranormal series by Larissa Ione.
