In 1875 Scotland, Ellice Traylor has a wild imagination about passion, lust and love. She privately writes a book on the adventures of her imagination. She's fully aware that her book will bring nothing but scandal to both her and her family.
Her mother expresses her feelings that Ellice should be married, but Ellice takes hold of her future with very little help from her mother. While the Earl of Gadsden visits, Ellice hides away in his carriage, not knowing it's his. Ellice plans to run away and have her book published, but as day turns into night, no one comes to drive the carriage away. It starts raining and storming, so Ellice has no other choice but to vacate the carriage, but she leaves behind her book and a piece of her private under clothing. A big mistake for her.
As the storm rages on, Ross Forster, the Earl of Gadsden finds that he must stay over night. When he goes to tell his driver, he is shocked when his driver hands him a book and a woman's under clothing that were hidden in his carriage. He takes the book back to his room and gives much thought if he should read it or put it back. After reading Ellice's book, he is shocked that a woman of virtue would know so much about lust, passion even some things he's never tried before. How can she be a virgin with writing such realistic fantasies or is it fact and truth? Does Ellice have a lover or lovers? Ross finds himself drawn to her every time he's in her company or not. Ellice is constantly thinking of Ross in those fine ways she had written her book.
Soon they both find themselves in a comprising position and her mother pushes them to wed. Ross keeps his distance from Ellice after they marry for he wants to make sure she is not pregnant, but still a virgin. Now will Ellice take matters into her own hands once again or will she cry herself to sleep every night that her husband does not come to her. What an exciting book, turning corners and always finding something new, funny, lusty and romantic!
THE VIRING OF CLAN SINCLAIR by Karen Ranney was an excellent read! I enjoyed it greatly! I highly recommend it!
