PLAY is Book two in Kylie Scott's Stage Dive series. I love this book! I never thought I would enjoy a series about rock stars, but I am really enjoying this series by Kylie Scott. Both main characters in PLAY are great and fun to read about. Mal is just as charming as he was in the previous book, and Anne is a nice balance to his exuberance. The supporting, recurring characters from the first book add interest without cluttering up the story and distracting from Mal and Anne's romance.

Drummer and rock star extraordinaire, Mal Ericson, is a larger-than-life character, and the way he and bookshop worker Anne Rollins are thrown together is definitely not something that would ordinarily happen. It's not every day that your rock star crush becomes your roommate. However, the reality factor of this story doesn't really matter much to me because PLAY is just that fabulous. From the moment Mal and Anne meet at a party, the verbal back and forth between them has a great rhythm and always had me smiling.

I think Kylie Scott does a wonderful job of giving the two main characters a lot of depth. Anne's personal issues are evident right away, while Mal's pain is carefully hidden under his manic energy. With another author, these characters could have been awful, but PLAY gets them just right. Even though Mal lives the rock star life, whether it's being ground by great parents or his close relationship with his bandmates, he's not a jerk. He goofs around a lot and plays the clown saying how great he is, but it's really just for entertainment. Also, while Anne might have an ordinary life, she's not missish and constantly lecturing Mal. They really act as a nice counterpoint to each other. The sexual tension and fun flirting are just as good as the hot and heavy sexier scenes.

PLAY is such a delight to read and it easily became one of my all-time favorite romances. If you want to laugh and enjoy a romance with great chemistry between the main characters, then PLAY is a must-read. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
