Laney Scott is a university student in Jacksonville, and she hasn't dated since high school. She still misses that special boy, her first and only love: Lachlan. He came from Australia and had lived in Florida in his teens. Meanwhile at university, Laney and her friend Jacks got into trouble for disrupting a class, and they will have to attend the YMCA Cook-off as penance.

Aiden's cousin Lucy is getting married, and he asks Laney to be his date at the wedding dress rehearsal, she accepts reluctantly, but it's part of the plan to humiliate him, break him, and make him pay for what he did to Bethany as well as to countless other girls. It turns out that a friend of the groom-to-be is Lachlan! Lucas tells Lachlan about the YMCA Cook-off; the Aussie is a very good cook, he's also jobless, and he just might be good enough to win the Cook- off and get a chance to work in a fine restaurant.

The dress rehearsal is a complete and utter disaster when Laney sees Lachlan and flees the premises, trying to escape through a bathroom window but failing miserably, and being rescued by ... Lachlan! It's because of him, and because of what happened between them that she has not dated since; she broke his heart, but she has never stopped loving him.

WHERE YOU ARE is a story of the pain, the joy, and the consequences of misguided decisions. It's told from alternate points of views, those of Lachlan and Laney; and the author tone is youthful and casual. And be prepared for a shock; there was a plot twist I never expected! I have to admit though that my favourite character is a secondary one: Jacks; he's a nice guy, he sounds genuine; he's a good friend. WHERE YOU ARE is the first instalment of a new series, TOGETHER, and I hope we get to hear Jacks' story.
