Ugly Love

Romance Erotica Sensual

When Tate Collins appears in front of her brother's apartment, she finds a drunk guy sitting outside. As she tries to deal with this situation in the best way possible, she learns that the drunk guy is actually Miles Archer, her brother's neighbour and friend. While Tate and Miles don't start off on the right foot, it is clear that trouble lies ahead of them in this angst-filled love story by Colleen Hoover.

UGLY LOVE is written in alternating chapters set in the present with Tate's POV and also six years in the past with Miles' POV. Tate's POV was my favourite by far. I enjoyed Hoover's humor and as well as her ability to charm the pants off her readers with those sweet moments interspersed throughout the book.

Miles' POV was a little more difficult to get into. First off, Hoover takes a more lyrical approach as she details Miles' first love with a girl named Rachel. Although beautiful, it got repetitive after awhile. I felt that this book required a lot of faith in the writing and in the characters because Miles distances himself from Tate quite a bit. It stalls the romance in a big way and because of Rachel and Miles' story is interspersed throughout the book, I felt like Tate and Rachel were competing against each other in a way that didn't help the romance. As a result, I wasn't a big fan of Miles.

When the big reveal comes around, it is brimming with angst. While a little over the top for me, it will still draw on the emotions of readers and hopefully redeem Miles in a way.

UGLY LOVE tackles the issues of loving and losing, as well as the journey of emotional healing. If you're a fan of angst-filled New Adult romances, Colleen Hoover never fails to deliver.

SUMMARY

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.
