Emmy Lou Hayes is a good girl, more by obligation than by
choice: she is the daughter of the President of the Reapers
Motorcycle Club, Reese "Picnic" Hayes, and he watches over
her like a hawk. Em, twenty-two, has no boyfriend, and her
father
doesn't make things easy. She'd had her eye on a member,
Painter, but it appears he's not interested.
Hunter is a member of the Devil's Jacks; he came about the
MC by accident: eight years prior to the events of the book,
his foster father was about to rape his younger foster
sister, a neighbour helped him; the good samaritan was a
member of the Devil's Jacks: Burke, and he's been like a
father to Hunter since then. The Jacks have been at war off
and on with the Reapers for twenty years; there had been a
truce
for a while until a recent incident caused the hostilities
to reopen. Burke needs leverage against the Reapers, and
sees an opportunity: what better leverage than Picnic's
daughter; Hunter has seen Em, and he wants her.
Em would really like to have a life of her own, a boyfriend,
sex, so she turns to the internet, where her father can't
interfere. She gets acquainted with a good-looking, nice
young man named Liam. They had been chatting and talking on
the phone for a few weeks, and they decide to meet in
person. Sparks definitely fly, but there is just one
problem: Liam and Hunter are one and the same.
DEVIL'S GAME is the second book in the Reapers Motorcycle
Club series. When I read the previous one, I had my
misgivings: would I care for people who inhabit a world so
different from mine? Absolutely! I was very much looking
forward to DEVIL'S GAME, and it lives up to my very high
expectations, and then some. It's not pretty: it's gritty,
intense, crude, rough, sometimes violent; Joanna Wylde does
not sugarcoat the MC world's reality.
I had wondered if my
liking the previous book had been a fluke, if it had been
the novelty of the MC world; definitely not! It's a gripping
story, the characters are fascinating, and what an ending!
In my opinion, DEVIL'S GAME even surpasses Reaper's Legacy.
Ms. Wylde is an exceptional storyteller, and I cannot wait
for the next book!
Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a
Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from
their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he
can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has
a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her
from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take
her.
Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers.
Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president.
The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the
men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy
happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a
handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a
real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is
Liam, and he’s The One.
Or so she thinks.
