"A Sweet Romance about Second Chances!!"

Fresh Fiction Review

The Sweetheart Rules

Romance Contemporary

Mike Stark is a sexy Lieutenant in the Coast Guard. When his ex-wife decides that she needs to rethink her life and goes on vacation, she drops off his two daughters with him. Mike has been an absent father due to his job and has no idea what to really do. He decides to head to his best friends house in Rescue Bay.

Diana Tuttle is the town veterinarian. She is also a single mother to a troubled fifteen year old boy. When Diana runs into Mike in town it is very awkward. It has been months since the two shared a steamy night together. A night that Mike walked away from leaving Diana with a note to explain. Both are very surprised to find out they still have feelings for each other. Can these two put the past behind them and find a way back to each other?

THE SWEETHEART RULES is the second book in Shirley Jump's Sweetheart Sisters series. Even though I didn't read the first book in the series, I never felt like I was out of the loop. With that being said, I truly enjoyed this book. The characters are a delight. I love how each character grows and learns form their mistakes. When the book first started, I did not like Mike because he apparently walked away from his children. I understand certain jobs can keep you away a lot, but Mike never seemed to make an effort to connect with the girls. All he did was send a check in the mail. As the book progressed, I love how Mike connects with the girls. The effort he makes to make this situation better for them is sweet. I really like how hard Mike works to win back Diana, also. THE SWEETHEART RULES is a sweet contemporary romance about second chances. I highly recommend THE SWEETHEART RULES by Shirley Jump.
