Romance Contemporary
Shelby Patterson McCoy is back in Texas after seven years
of separation from her husband, Ritter. They tend to bring
out the worst in each other and after several attempts at
serving Ritt with the divorce papers, they still haven't
been returned, signed. This time she will make the trip
from L.A. to personally get them signed so she can move
on. Shelby has established herself as a successful baker
of cakes and cupcakes and is in serious demand.
Ritt completely ignores Shel's request. Working at
the bait shop part time only confirms Shelby's suspicion
that he has not taken advantage of ridding himself of a
marriage and hasn't taken advantage of his baseball
scholarship. Still living at home with his parents he
seems to have no ambition other than fishing and the bait
shop.
Shelby got pregnant , got married and then lost the
baby. Upon her mother's insistence, she moved to
California with her mother to enable Ritt to move on with
his life. Reluctant to sign, their cat and mouse games
prove a little excitement around town. Taking the tact that
she had to move into his house and use a little pressure
to persuade him to sign, only drives home how much they
both still love each other.
Ritt reveals that her mother
was paid by his parents to leave town, thus encouraging
Ritt to take advantage of the scholarship. Shel did not
believe that happened and needs confirmation from her
mother. By the time Shel is ready to head home, he
presents her with the signed papers, but now she's not so
sure she wants the divorce. If only he would show her he
still loved and wanted her. BLAME IT ON TEXAS is a very emotional tale filled with humor
and
cleverness on the part of both characters. The sorrow at
losing a baby drives them apart and secrets between them
keep them apart. The story line is different than most and
completely captivating. This first love definitely
deserves a second chance. Amie Louellen is a talented
author and I completely enjoyed this read.
SUMMARY
Every first love deserves a second chance. Shelby Patterson has come back to Texas for one reason and
one reason only—to get her husband to sign divorce papers.
She’s worked hard to build her California bakery, where
clients clamor for her one-of-a-kind creations. Seven years after her disastrous marriage, she’ll finally
have everything in perfect order—just as soon as Ritter
McCoy signs the dotted line. Ritt is still pissed that Shelby walked out all those years
ago without giving their marriage a chance. Sure, they were
young and had just lost the baby that had rushed them to the
altar, but they’d loved each other beyond reason. Ritt gave up his college baseball scholarship, only to have
Shelby and her mom take his parents’ bribe money and run. If
Shelby wants those papers signed, she’ll just have to wait
until he’s good and ready. Or maybe, before she flies the coop again, he can convince
her the love they had between them is still there—and still
hot enough to melt their hearts back into one. Warning: This book contains a sexy Texas boy determined to
recapture his first love. May also produce feelings of
nostalgia and longing for slow kisses and sweet tea.
