The Ugly Stick Saloon series is back with the fine folks in Temptation, Texas. The good humour of Ladies' Night at the bar is marred when Lucky Albright drives into town and runs out of gas. She's hoping to ask for some work. By accident both her truck and the new truck belonging to Audrey Anderson, the bar owner, end up in a drainage ditch. Not the start she'd hoped for....
BOOTS AND TWISTERS is light-hearted and can be read as a standalone. Other characters from the series are present but the story follows tall, jeans-clad Lucky and a couple of cowboy brothers. Trent and Isaac Jameson inherited their father's ranch and are trying to cope with the work themselves, although Trent has an outside profession. Grumbling about being short-handed, they are looking for a ranch hand as they play poker in the Ugly Stick. The mob of ladies behave differently after watching a male strip lineup and the men are almost scared.
More than one person takes Lucky for a man, especially with a Stetson hiding her hair. Trent's not attracted to a former cheerleader in low-cut everything who smiles at him, yet when he tries to steal a kiss from Lucky he finds himself out of luck. This tomboy makes up her own mind. Isaac is the one who offers the more-than-qualified Lucky a job as ranch hand. She's determined to take the waitressing job at the bar as well.
The brothers are far from easy partners. Trent wants to sell the ranch, Isaac to keep it. Each of them finds the new cowhand attractive, but will this be just another source of division? Fit, leggy and muscled, Lucky in a waitress outfit attracts admiration from bar rowdies; another source of discord among the brothers.
Myla Jackson's latest outing is a seriously sexy and fun read, with hardly a wasted word as events move fast and characters crowd the pages. Not only that, but Temptation gets a five-minute warning of a tornado a mile wide at its base, and all chaos breaks loose. BOOTS AND TWISTERS includes some good tips for surviving the destructive power of a tornado, from this South Texas author with a ranching background. If you like romances hot and fiery, with humour and tough, sassy independent women, get set to move to Texas.
