Kate Darby's successful life is thrown into turmoil upon receiving the call that her grandmother, Leona, has suffered a stroke. Kate is good at her job in Los Angeles at Sutton Advertising Boutique Ad Agency but clearly has to put her grandmother first. Leona is her remaining relative, still striving to keep the Clarion, a small local newspaper in Meadows, California, solvent. Kate's plan is to take a leave of absence to bring Leona home for recovery. Heading over the treacherous mountainous terrain in a torrential rainstorm, a condor in the middle of the road causes her car to plummet part way down the mountainside to her death.
Nick Sheridan has previously written successful articles for California for Real Men, aka CFRM, which has rendered him financially comfortable. Six months ago he accepted God in his life after losing a newborn daughter, and has vowed to change from sinner to a believer. Therefore, he has decided not to make any major decisions for at least a year, giving time to shift gears into his new life. This includes women, sex, booze and everything in his previous life. Rounding a curve he discovers Kate's car hanging on the edge and manages to pull her to safety seconds before the car plunges into the ravine at the bottom, saving her life. Finding that Nick is helping out at the newspaper in Leona's absence, the two of them work together to right the wrongs and focus on Leona's recovery. Falling deeply in love, Nick resolves to back away in hopes that Kate will find God and they can plan a life together. The story of the Condor #53 is retold through Leona's journal as a gift to Kate in hopes she will find her way and choose the life she deserves. Temptation for a high prestigious position in advertising causes Kate to reflect on her true happiness and real reason for considering the job rather than to choose her life with Nick. Only understanding God will give her the ultimate solution for a fulfilling and faithful life.
Finding true and everlasting faith is a difficult decision for most people when it means denying personal wants. The journal follows the life of the condor, an extinct bird that mates for life. Through all the soul searching and reminiscing, realization eventually surfaces that we all need understanding for our faith and love in God who is the One that loves and guides us through life.
This read is a very heart-warming and fulfilling tale of commitment to our faith and those we love. UNTIL I FOUND YOU left me with a very wonderful and complete feeling. Victoria Bylin has created a really great story of strength and has a truly gifted way of relaying the essence to the reader.
