Jason "Jax" Wilder is a former major league baseball player who is now partnered with his best friend, Chase Dixon in a body guarding agency. When his next client walks in the door he is ready for action in more ways then one...he is about to be GUARDING HIS HEART.
Cassidy Dixon hadn't wanted to take her problem to the police and certainly not her brother, but she feels she can trust Jax to check into things for her. She has after all loved and hated the man for as long as she can remember, and after contacting him, she is sure she is back to hating him.
As soon as Cass mentions a stalker, Jax is ready to do whatever he has to, and if that means bossing her around to the point of taking over her life...so be it. He is in for a big surprise because Cass isn't about to let him have complete control...not in her daily life. He doesn't feel at all guilty about finding himself in her bed, it is after all where he belongs, and soon he will prove just that to Cass and her over-protective brother. If neither of them or the stalker kills him first.
GUARDING HIS HEART is the intriguing second book of author Cari Quinn's Deuces Wild series. I would suggest that the reader might want to read the first book because there is some background that is not explained entirely. For example, it is assumed the reader already knows that there was a split between Chase and Jax and why...which is not covered in this book but does have some play in Cass's feelings toward Jax. That said this is a steamy stand-alone with some very funny moments and a number of twists right up to the surprise stalker. Watching the heat develop between Cass and Jax was a slow roll, but when it exploded, it nearly burned the words off the pages. I especially loved both Jax and Cass's reaction to finding out their parents (his mother and her father) are "dating." So funny! I will admit I am looking forward to the next book because Ms. Quinn left the third member of the Deuces Wild team, Sterling, chasing after a mystery woman, and I would love to know that story.
