Caitlyn Deveraux's brother, Gage a member of a special ops
group known as Team Indigo, is killed in Iraq. As his next
of kin she receives his possessions. Inside is a necklace
that she had never seen before and assumes it was something
he picked up for her. Instead it turns out to be an amulet
that is even more powerful than SUPERSTITION leads everyone
to believe.
Jacob Littlejohn, also a member of Team Indigo, is now
prepared to retrieve the amulet and keep Cate safe. He
couldn't protect his brother in arms so he will not fail to
protect his beloved sister. Even if he has to go against
everything he has ever believed in.
Before long the college librarian, and her friends, are
drawn into a world that turns theirs upside down. She finds
there really is magic in the world, strange powers she
never knew she had and government conspiracies. She is also
thrilled at being able to work side by side with those her
brother loved.
SUPERSITION is a fast paced intriguingly different
paranormal. The action is nonstop with many touches of
Native American lore. Though I truly enjoyed this book I
did find a few flaws that I believe would have been fixed
had it been a longer book. To my thinking the storyline was
somewhat chaotic at times with just too many people
involved for example you have the Indigo team (four of them
not including Jacob); her three friends, her ex-boyfriend,
her grandmother, an F.B.I agent, one bad guy from her
tribe, others from the tribe helping, a number of soldiers
that have "speaking parts", and the general, all in less
than 200 pages. If it had been longer I do believe that as
well written as this book is that there would be more depth
to the characters and hopefully a lot more romance. As it
is I did find the magic, shapeshifting and supernatural
powers a very good tactic for a team fighting evil. I do
hope that author Tori Scott has plans for another Team
Indigo book, because she has laid down an interesting
foundation for future evil fighting.
When Caitlyn Deveraux's brother Gage is killed in Iraq, she
receives a necklace as part of his personal effects that she
thinks is a trinket he'd purchased for her. When she
scatters his ashes according his exact instructions and
repeats the words he'd written, she accidentally inhales
some of the ashes. From that moment on, her life as a quiet
librarian is turned upside down.
Jacob Littlejohn was not only Gage Deveraux's best friend,
he was his team mate at Team Indigo. He should have been
there to protect Gage, but he wasn't. Now he's determined to
protect Caitlyn from the men who are after the necklace.
It's no trinket, but rather a powerful amulet that could
have devastating consequences if it fell into the wrong
hands.
Caitlyn doesn't know how to handle the new powers she's
received, so she heads back to her village, to her
grandmother, to try to understand what's happening to her.
In doing so, she brings danger to her people and gets
involved in Team Indigo's current mission--the same mission
that got her brother killed. She enlists the aid of her
people and her three best friends, and together with Jacob
and Team Indigo, they set out to stop a power-hungry
General.
