BLOSSOM STREET BRIDES by Debbie Macomber is book ten in her Blossom Street series but, it could also be a stand alone. This is the story of Lauren. She works at the jewelry store and is dating Todd who is a news anchor for the local television station. She has been dating him for a few years and keeps waiting for him to propose. He comes up with many excuses until one day, Lauren has heard enough. She dumps him and he doesn't take it too easily. Right before she dumps Todd, she learns her little sister is pregnant. Lauren decides that her biological clock is ticking away and that is why she knows it's time to let Todd go.
Lauren decides to make a baby blanket for her niece/nephew and goes to Lydia's yarn shop, A Good Yarn to get the supplies. While she is there she meets Max, Bethanne's husband and his best friend, Rooster Wayne. She gets to talking to Rooster and explains to him that she has a husband list. It is a list of all the qualities she is looking for in a husband. He actually helps her with the list. This is where the fun begins for these two. Rooster is a rough and tough biker kind of guy while Lauren is sophisticated and classy. They are both instantly smitten with each other.
Bethanne's husband, Max is having a hard time dealing with her ex husband, Grant. He keeps trying to win her back even though he was the one who initiated their divorce. Max is currently living in California with his wine business being there and only sees Bethanne, who lives in Seattle on the weekends. It is driving him crazy that Grant won't leave her alone and is even using their daughter, Annie against her mother to try and get Bethanne to come back to him so they can all be a family again. At first, Max agrees to Bethanne's wishes, to let her handle it but it is obvious that Grant will stop at nothing until he gets her back. Finally, Max steps in and deals with Grant in his own way.
I love reading this series and BLOSSOM STREET BRIDES is a perfect addition. Debbie has a way of pulling you right in where you feel as if you are in the yarn shop with all the ladies, sitting right there, knitting away with them and getting all caught up in their lives. She gives you a front row view of their marriages and the troubles they are having. A quick and enjoyable read that pulls you right in from page one. Soon, you are flipping the pages madly because, like me, you have to know what is going to happen to these couples and if their love will survive. The deep friendships these ladies have will have you cheering for them throughout BLOSSOM STREET BRIDES.
