With such emotional polar opposites as Derek and Clementine, it can be hard to make things work to the point where you're actually rooting for the characters to be together, but Marvelle manages to pull it off and gets you invested in their lives. When the two finally meet Madame de Maitenon, who runs a scandalous school, the scene is explosive. As usual, Marvelle doesn't do things in typical historical fashion, which is what makes her boos such a delight to read. I don't want to give anything away but lets just say at the School of Gallantry, they truly do give you an exceptional education.
