NYPD Detective Kat Donovan never got over her ex-fiance who broke their engagement suddenly and left her 18 years ago. Since that time, she has thrown herself into her work as a police detective and dulled her senses the rest of the time with carefully doled out alcohol. Her best friend, private investigator Stacy, is so worried about Kat that she signs her up for an online dating service.

At first, Kat is irritated that Stacy would do something like that but, then, she gives into her curiosity and logs into the service for a look around. As she is perusing some men's profiles, one stops her dead in her tracks. The picture is of none other than her ex-fiance. She decides to message him. What follows is a long, winding, twisted avenue of events that puts Kat in the line of fire as she races against time to unravel this past to present puzzle.

As I am a huge fan of Harlan Coben, it may not even be fair for me to review MISSING YOU, but I have no shame in saying that this is a fast paced, mind bending book, and one of the most enthralling ones I have ever read. Coben always has an impossible to figure out twist in his plot lines and MISSING YOU is no different. In addition, he always throws in a quirky character or two and he doesn't disappoint this time around, either.

I couldn't stand it when I had to stop reading in favor of performing some irritating tasks such as cooking dinner or doing laundry. MISSING YOU grabbed me from the first page and left me wanting more of these very captivating characters at the end. Now, don't misunderstand; Coben explained everything by the end of the last chapter and it was a satisfying ending. My problem is that I just wanted more of the story to continue. That is the sign of a truly gifted writer when he can leave readers wanting more just because the book was so amazing.
