YOU, ME, AND SWEET TEA by Calico Daniels is a fun read. It is only around 80 pages but don't let that fool you. This story packs a punch. Paisley Archer has been trying to move on with her life for the past two years. Two years ago, she was happily married to Matt Weston, the local rodeo hero. Until one day he gets a call from big sponsors to back his rodeo tour and off he goes. Paisley is heart broken but Matt's father, Joe, takes it even harder. He starts to drink heavily which isn't a good thing as he spends nearly every waking hour in the local Bear Creek bar.
Two years ago, Matt, Paisley, and Joe were making plans to go into business together. The three of them were very close at the time and life was good. Until one day, Matt tells them he is leaving to compete in the rodeo season. He leaves and doesn't look back. No one hears from him, no one sees him, and then one night, at midnight, Paisley gets a knock on her door. Guess who? Matt and he tries to get back into his house. The house he shared with Paisley, but of course, she is having no part of it. They yell, he tries to get in and finally she pushes him back and he falls off the porch, injuring himself. He has no where to go and can barely walk, so guess who's couch he ends up on? Yes, Paisley's. Now the fun begins.
Paisley still loves Matt very much and while her head is telling her to run as fast as she can, her heart tells a different story. Her head tells her to get Matt to sign the divorce papers so she can move on with her life. Her heart tells her she still loves him and still wants him in her life. What will Paisley do? Take him back? Have him sign the divorce papers? You are going to have to read YOU, ME, AND SWEET TEA to find out. Matt still loves Paisley and knows he made a big mistake walking away from her two years ago. Will he be able to prove to Paisley that he is sorry and he still loves her? Will she give him the chance?
This is my first book by Calico Daniels, but I really enjoyed it and now I am on the hunt for the rest of her books. It was fun and quick but a complete and engaging read. I was quickly wrapped up in Paisley and Matt's business and my heart was breaking for Matt's father, Joe. Big Creek is the kind of small town where everyone knows everyone else's business and they all talk about it. Everyone knows Paisley is still heart broken over Matt leaving two years ago, but they remember how happy they were before he left. Do you think the town will be able to forgive Matt too?
