Romance Suspense

Note: In 2010, when I reviewed NOT ONE CLUE (Christina McMullen #6), I understood it to be the final chapter in this hilarious romantic mystery saga. However, in 2011, Lois Greiman self-published in e-book format a 7th installment -- UNCORKED -- which has now been re-released in paperback print form, as well as e-book. It seems Chrissy's happy-ever-after is going to take a while to achieve.

A year ago, LA psychologist Christina McMullen and Lieutenant Jack Rivera finally consummated their long-term, on-again-off-again relationship -- and it was explosive. However, it wasn't meant to last. Six months ago, Chrissy dumped Rivera when she caught him in a tight clinch with an overly endowed blonde bimbo. Her insecurity doesn't allow her to accept his explanation of working an undercover case, and she lacks the confidence needed to believe in his love for her. Of course, they've both been miserable ever since, but Chrissy has moved on to a new boy-friend, whose name she has trouble remembering. Rivera is still trying to convince her of his innocence.

When a criminal they helped put in prison is released, Rivera is afraid the once-vicious man will seek revenge on Chrissy. After Rivera warns Chrissy, the ex-con is found shot in the head, but survives. The prime suspect for the shooting is Rivera, who's arrested and put in jail. He's in a constant state of panic that he can't protect Chrissy while he's incarcerated, especially since she doesn't know how to leave things alone. Positive that Rivera didn't do it, Chrissy is determined to clear his name, no matter what it takes. After being violently attacked, Chrissy is convinced her assailant is the same person who shot the ex- con, so she must be getting close to the truth. What she becomes involved in is even more dangerous than she or Rivera could have imagined. Will she survive long enough to uncover the truth and free Rivera?

In UNCORKED, Lois Greiman pens a complex storyline and hilarious antics for the zany Chrissy McMullen that has her dealing with some pretty wacky characters, while Rivera sits in jail with no control over the situation whatsoever. Even though things turn out okay for Chrissy this time, we can only wonder what will transpire in the future to again mess up the love life of this unconventional shrink and her stressed-out hunky cop.

The romance between LA psychologist Christina McMullen and Lieutenant Jack Rivera is finally sizzling...until Chrissy catches the lieutenant in a compromising position. Still, when a vicious criminal from their past is released from prison, Rivera is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Chrissy safe – but does that include murder?

Despite sound advice from her best friend, Brainy Laney Butterfield, Chrissy is determined to clear Rivera's name. But first she'll have to tango with a quintet of sexy suitors and her own current beau, Doctor...what was his name again? And when Chrissy is attacked, the stakes become more dangerous than ever, for she's about to pop the lid on the most lucrative criminal enterprise in LA – and to the surprise of this shrink, more than one deep, dark secret is about to become uncorked.
