Who says there is a limit on falling in love? The
notion that you only get one chance at that brass ring is
dispelled in this engaging romance HOME TO SEAVIEW KEY by
the master of inspiring stories, Sherryl Woods. It's so
effortless to become a Woods fan; just read any one of
her books. True, this is a revisit to the locale of many
Woods tales, but as always, it stands on its own
merit. There is no need to have read all the stories that
evolve around Seaview Key, but I can practically guarantee
that you will want to read them after reading HOME TO
SEAVIEW KEY.
My mother always said that love is lovelier the second
time around. That was not necessarily to hint that something
was missing in the first attempt, but I always thought of it
as a rally call of encouragement to pick yourself up, dust
yourself off, and start all over again. Sorry, that's my
homage to romantic musical theatre making an appearance.
People leave home for so many reasons, usually hoping to
find a better life or career options. Sometimes, home just
doesn't offer a person a place to spread their wings and
create that special niche for themselves. It would seem
people leave Seaview Key for that very reason, not running
away but instead moving toward a better future. But they
do come back when they realize how much was left behind.
Even if it means facing their past, the hope is that the
memories of a loving, warm and close-knit town are real and
with time, attainable once again.
Anything worth having is worth doing well, even with
distractions and road blocks. Abby had hoped her
homecoming would be unnoticed, at least for a short while,
giving her time to get her bearings and test the waters. But
plans are made to be broken, and when Abby runs
into trouble at the seaside near her home, newcomer Seth
comes to her aid. Before you know it the entire town is
abuzz with news of Abby's return, some happy, others
decidedly weary.
Perhaps the one person most affected by Abby's return to
Seaview Key is her longtime friend Hannah. Hannah is now
happily married to Luke, the man who was the object of her
teenage crush. Luke and Abby though had been a couple for
several teenage years, separating by seemingly mutual
consent. Hannah's health has been a major concern, and
her battle with breast cancer has diminished her usually
self-confident manner. Full of doubts about her health and
worries about her marriage to Luke, Hannah is understandably
cautious about welcoming back her old friend Abby.
Egged on by the most reluctant residents of Seaview Key,
Abby seems to be continually thrown together with Seth. They
both readily acknowledge their mutual attraction, but their
pasts keep throwing roadblocks in their way. Both Abby and
Seth are in this small town to rebuild their lives and find
someplace safe and welcoming. There is a lot at stake. Abby
has already left once and came back, hoping to find that
elusive part of herself she felt she lost in her ill-fated
marriage. Seth is looking for a safe harbor after a tough
military past. Neither one is willing to take the chance
that their attraction might fizzle out, leaving them
questioning their decision to call Seaview Key their home.
Home is where the heart is. With so many distractions is it
even possible for this couple to make a future together?
Magically, Sherryl Woods casts a spell on the reader with
HOME TO SEAVIEW KEY. We are immediately drawn to these very
real, multidimensional characters, with so many realistic
challenges to face. I never turn down the opportunity to
read a Woods story. I absolutely recommend this wonderful
book to anyone who enjoys a good contemporary romance.
Falling for a handsome stranger on the very morning they
meet is hardly what recently divorced Abby Miller planned
for her return to Seaview Key. Hoping to mend an old
friendship and to give back to the community she loves,
Abby's definitely not looking for love.
For ex-soldier Seth Landry, Seaview Key seems like the
perfect place to heal a broken heart eventually. And when he
rescues a beautiful woman on the beach, his nightmares about
the past are eclipsed by daydreams about the future.
Neither Abby nor Seth is looking for forever, but powerful
love has its own timetable. And taking a chance on the
future will test their courage in ways neither of them could
possibly have anticipated.
