Alix Godard is new to Aspen Colorado; she's from France and
is a Sommelier (wine steward) at the Silvermont Lodge.
After an accident, while hiking, Alix is somewhat unnerved
and doesn't understand why. She has no idea that behind the
glitz and glitter of the fairy tale town she now calls
home, there is something other ... and she will soon see an
ASPEN SHIFT in her way of thinking.
Kynan Byrne is a shifter, actually a very large dog. Part
of what he does in Aspen besides being an accountant is as
a protector. He has the ability to protect non-shifters
from possible violence from shifters especially werewolves.
That is what sent him to Alix's side, his instinct, but
what keeps him there ... is his heart.
Alix believes that everything in Aspen is looking so much
better, until Kynan tells her about the dark side of her
new world. She is endangered by a werewolf stalker and the
only thing Kynan can do is offer his protection and hope
for so much more. He is all she can turn to, which isn't
all bad.
ASPEN SHIFT is a fantastic little story with a different
taste of paranormal. I enjoyed meeting Alix and seeing a
little of her wine world and I loved Kynan. He's the
perfect shifter; protective, tough and yet tender. My
biggest problem with this book is that because it was so
short a lot of details were left out. There are hints that
all was not well in France when she left and I would have
loved to hear more about why the werewolf had such a
fixation for Alix. I can only hope that author Lindsay
McFerrin plans for more books, ones hopefully longer, along
this line because what is here is a very compelling read.
Paris native, Alix Godard, seeks adventure by taking a job
in a new country, but a solo hike in the mountains of Aspen,
Colorado brings her to the brink of death. A mysterious
being appears out of nowhere and shields her from a wolf
attack. Suddenly life as Alix knows it is forever altered.
When she accepts an invitation from dashing Aspen native,
Kynan Byrne, to show her around town, her strong attraction
to him becomes tainted with fear and mistrust when he seems
to have detailed information about her fall on the mountain
trail to which he should not be privy.
Alix is stunned to learn Aspen holds not only beauty but an
entire world she never knew existed--the dangerous world of
the Shifters. Who—and what—is Kynan Byrne? Is Alix's wildly-
handsome and wealthy suitor predator--or protector?
