Lily Pearce has no love for the entertainment world. She grew up in it with an actress mother and her father who does tributes to Frank Sinatra. Much worse is the fact that her brother Eugene got caught up in the hard world of rock- n-roll and ends up in rehab, again. That's why she's a paramedic; she wants nothing to do with that world ... besides the fact that she can't carry a tune if her life depended on it. That's how she feels until he walks into the room and a big part of her wanted to stand up and say LEAD ME ON, but he's in a world she wants nothing to do with.
Samuel Gibson is one of the members of the Nick Blackthorne band. With Nick retired they are trying to find a replacement for him and revamp the band with the new name Synergy. He's lived the life of a rocker to the hilt and accepted the reputation as part of the gig. He did it partly to spite his parents, the doctor father and politician mother, but mostly because he loves music. The life is starting to get to him and especially hits him when he walks in to meet a possible replacement singer and there sits the most fascinating woman he's met in a long time ... if ever. Very quickly he realizes that he hasn't a chance in hell of getting to know Lily, unless he can make her believe that what the world says about him and the truth are two different things. It may be more than even a heartfelt song can bring about but he has to try ... because his heart is completely involved.
LEAD ME ON brings readers into the complicated and sometimes not very pretty world of entertainment. Lily has her reasons for blaming that world on her family's troubles and Sam just loves the music and has dealt with the reputation that comes with his style of music. Until Lily. I thoroughly enjoyed this look at entertainment, with the paparazzi and all the pitfalls from both sides and was glad when both parties let their hearts lead the way. The couple's completely diverse backgrounds really made this book and it was very entertaining to watch them, especially Lily, fight her desire for the sexy bad boy. The other band members and her brother added a variety of personalities that could have come right out of the tabloids.
Author Lexxi Couper throws in engaging conversations, settings you can actually feel and sex scenes that can steam up your glasses. Compelling and fun read you won't want to end.
He may rock her world, but she will shake him to his soul.
