Roguish Anthony Keaton, Earl of Ellis, and spirited Lady Gabrielle Forest, sister to the Duke of Foxhaven, have known each other since childhood. Anthony and Gabby were secretly engaged before Anthony left her for four months without a word. When Anthony returns from securing his daughter from his first marriage he finds that he now has a rival for Gabby's affections in one Baron Sebastian Thorne, a man that has been a thorn in his side for far too long. Thorne will do anything to antagonize Anthony.
Gabby believes she has been abandoned by Anthony and is determined to make a match based on a list of her preferred qualities since she can not have the man she loves. To her Sebastion seems to fit the bill. When Anthony quadrilles back into her life Gabby does her best to push him away. Determined to win Gabby back, Anthony woos her with full force.
ONE ROGUE TOO MANY by Samantha Grace is the first book in her new series, Rival Rogues. Readers who like to read in order should check out Samantha Grace's Beau Monde Bachelors series first, for it contains the stories of some of the supporting characters like Gabby's older brother, the Duke.
The romance between Anthony and Gabby has an auspicious beginning. I was left baffled when I read that Anthony and Gabby had gotten engaged before the start of the first chapter when at the end of the prologue Anthony rejected Gabby's token of affection and made her cry. Anthony's rejection, perceived or otherwise, has made a pattern in Gabby's life that is understandably hard for her to get past. When Anthony finally says he wants her, loves her she does not believe him.
ONE ROGUE TOO MANY is a page-turner and hard to put down. ONE TOO MANY ROGUES is light and spirited like it's heroine and full of ardor like it's hero. It sweeps you along with the love story of Gabby and Anthony.
Lady Gabrielle is thrilled when Anthony
Keaton, earl of Ellis, asks for her hand in marriage. She's
not so pleased when he then leaves the country and four
months pass without a word. Clearly, the scoundrel has
changed his mind and is too cowardly to tell her. There's
nothing to do but go back on the marriage mart...
When Anthony returns to town and finds his ultimate rival
has set sights on Gabby, his continual battle of
one-upmanship with Sebastian Thorne ceases to be a game.
Anthony is determined to win back the woman who holds his
heart--but he's not expecting Gabby herself to up the
stakes...
