A witch at Winter Solstice in Chicago, Pru Daniels, walks into her friend Zoe Adams' house confronted by the one vampire Demon Hunter she least wants to see again. She should have known better than to get hocked up with Simon Howell in the start. Witches and Demon Hunter's don't normally have wild sex and form attachments to each other.

Simon is visiting Chicago to seek help from Zoe's boyfriend, Damon Thornheart, in an effort to get Zoe to remove the curse placed on him by Pru when they were last together. Simon has lost his ability to have sex. He was also a vampire in King Arthur's court in the far past and is in search of the Excalibur sword for further strength . Thus the beginning of desperate fights with the demons and lightning speed travel in search of the sword. None of this can be accomplished without the help of Pru, who knows that her only love is Simon. Could it be that they have been destined for centuries to be together? Fighting together against the evils may seal their fates.
