The world was in chaos until the discovery of the Chronicles
of Satraya, ancient books of wisdom. Now, the world has
grown too accustomed to the teachings of these books and
once again the world is on the brink of collapse due to a
few power-hungry individuals. Logan Cutler, Mr. Alain
Perrot, and Perrot's daughter, Special Agent Valerie Perrot,
are all that stand in the way of a diabolical plan coming to
fruition. Will Logan, Mr. Perrot, and Valerie learn to trust
the wisdom of the Chronicles of Satraya in time?
JOURNEY INTO THE FLAME is the first in a new series about a
spiritual journey where those who follow the path of the
flame must learn to focus, meditate, and unravel a series of
riddles. Logan is at the center of things and as he learns
more about his own family history, things get quite dicey
for him. The overall pace of the novel ebbs and flows with
Logan's own journey and the ending has the reader rushing
headlong to the startling finale.
I really liked the multi-dimensional main characters created
by T.R. Williams. Logan, Mr. Perrot (and I love that his
name reminds me of the famous Agatha Christie detective),
and Valerie are all well-drawn as their motivations and
desires are apparent. The evil, power hungry bad guys are
not quite as well fleshed out, leaving them a bit one-
dimensional albeit very nasty.
T.R. Williams asks readers to explore a dystopian world in
which life has been rebuilt based upon ancient teachings of
wisdom. Some of the teachings are quite pithy and uplifting
although it is the science behind the storyline that
appealed to me the most. Some readers will enjoy the
spiritual journey (JOURNEY INTO THE FLAME has been
rightfully compared to THE CELESTINE PROPHECY) whereas
others may find themselves flipping to the action scenes.
In 2027, the Great Disruption shook the world. An unexplained solar storm struck the earth, shifting it four degrees south on its axis. Everything went dark. Humanity was on the verge of despair. Then a man named Camden Ford discovered a set of ancient books called the Chronicles of Satraya. Thirty years later, the world is a different place. Thanks to the teachings of the Chronicles, hope has been restored, cities rebuilt, technology advanced. The books also have a different owner: Logan Cutler, who inherited them when Camden mysteriously disappeared. But when Logan auctions off the books to pay his debts, they fall into the wrong hands. The Reges Hominum, a clandestine group that once ruled history from the shadows, is launching a worldwide conspiracy to regain control. Soon Logan realizes he's made a terrible mistake. With the help of special agent Valerie Perrot and the wisdom of the Chronicles as his guide, he embarks on an epic quest to get the books back before it's too late. Abounding with questions about humanity's secret past and its unknown future, Journey into the Flame will not only take you to the start of an incredible new world, it will also take you deep into the greater mysteries of the self.
