Emily Highfill Grant is an heiress with a hankering to go west and have an adventure. Emily sneaks onto her grandfather's Pullman train car that is set and ready to go for her mother's journey to San Francisco. At the last minute her mother changes her mind and the train car is rented to the dashing Lucien Delatour unbeknownst to Emily. Emily leaves her hiding place and comes face to face with a strange man and her sister, Annabelle, who had decided to follow along. Thinking fast, Emily decides to hide their identities from Lucien while throwing themselves on his mercy. No matter what, Emily is going to have her adventure.
Lucien Delatour is a railroad man on his way back to the Wyoming Territory after securing investors in the East. Lucien thought he had Lady Luck on his side when he was able to secure a train car without notice, only to find two stowaways on board. Lucien's life is finally on track and he intends to get rid of the distracting ladies as soon as possible.
STOWAWAY BRIDE is a western romance by Adrianne Wood. STOWAWAY BRIDE is the sequel to Badlands Bride. Adrianne Wood sparks my interest with the differing cultures and perspectives of Lucien and Emily and Annabelle is a nice bit of fluff. She definitely keeps Emily and Lucien on their toes.
I love Adrianne Wood's use of dramatic irony in STOWAWAY BRIDE. Lucien wants nothing to do with anything Charles Highfill, but he is on his train car with two of his granddaughters. And Emily has no idea the man she is entrusting herself to has a beef with her grandfather. A clash is inevitable and highly anticipated.
STOWAWAY BRIDE is light and humorous. The tΓͺte-Γ -tΓͺtes between Lucien and Emily are refreshing. To me a good book is one that keeps you smiling and STOWAWAY BRIDE does just that.
Emily Highfill Grant is done with the rules of Boston society. She wants adventure—to see things she’s never seen before—and that’s exactly what she gets when she sneaks onto a train bound for San Francisco and finds herself face-to- face with a handsome, bare-chested stranger . . . who is also her wealthy grandfather’s nemesis. As stowaways go, the breathtaking woman who turns up in Lucien Delatour’s private Pullman Palace car is most intriguing. Though she refuses to reveal more than her first name, Emily creates a lot of scintillating commotion on their cross country journey. But when Lucien discovers her true identity, the real trouble begins, and he faces a choice between the trailblazing railroad he invested everything in, and the feisty lover who captured his heart.
