Romance

Quite possibly the most perfect love story ever told by the master herself. With each Kristan Higgins book I fall more in love with this very talented gifted author whose stories grab my heart. THE PERFECT MATCH is about two people who seem quite opposite at first which is the magic of this tale. Higgins makes Honor and Tom come to life right before our eyes. And let's not discount an amazing supporting cast without whom this book could be quite ordinary. Honor is the heart of her family and has spent her life supporting this loving group that is so close as to be the envy of those around them. When her mother died Honor rose to the occasion as the linchpin for her entire family. She knew they needed her strength and so she carefully put her own feelings aside to help them all deal with this tragic loss. Her mother was her staunchest supporter acknowledging how Honor marched to her own drums. Honor loved with her whole being. What was missing was having that someone special who loved her as she envisioned in her dreams and fantasies. Life is not fantasy and real life is messy and at times disappointing. Even heart breaking. Learning to cope with these life events is what made Honor so strong. But her strength was something that could also be viewed as resilience and independence. And sad to say people take advantage of strong people. Tom's life was in disarray. Having lost his fiancé and in jeopardy of being sent home to England as his work visa was denied Tom was facing a rather bleak future. Tom had a unique relationship with his deceased fiancé's son and had tunnel vision when it came to finding a way to keep close to Charley. Tom needed a green card and was open for any suggestion to attaining one, even if it was viewed as illegal. Honor was also facing down some realities of her own. Her best friend forever and at times sexual partner had turned down her impulsive proposal. She viewed herself in love, he didn't. But Honor was having an ongoing mental conversation with her aging eggs. Yes this is where the fun starts. Her obstetrician informed her that at 35 she was facing some issues with attaining one of her dreams. To have children. She needed a partner. And then she meets Tom. Honor has a running silent dialog with her aging eggs that will have you laughing out loud. In her imagination she even has them dressed appropriately for their advancing age. Truly funny stuff. But even through the humor you will find yourself impossibly drawn to this woman and how remarkable she is, even though she views herself as quite ordinary. There is nothing ordinary about Honor nor about THE PERFECT MATCH. That's it -- that's all I'm revealing. THE PERFECT MATCH is meant for each reader to enjoy and savor each page on their own. Kristan Higgins bring this small town to life and at the same time imparts a great message for us all. Love comes in all varieties and there is no simple recipe. In life you have to leave yourself open for all possibilities and in this wonderful heartwarming, as well as adorably humorous story Higgins reveals some special secrets about finding that perfect someone. THE PERFECT MATCH should be at the top of every readers wish list.

SUMMARY

What if the perfect match is a perfect surprise? Honor Holland has just been unceremoniously rejected by her lifelong crush. And now—a mere three weeks later—Mr. Perfect is engaged to her best friend. But resilient, reliable Honor is going to pick herself up, dust herself off and get back out there…or she would if dating in Manningsport, New York, population 715, wasn't easier said than done. Charming, handsome British professor Tom Barlow just wants to do right by his unofficial stepson, Charlie, but his visa is about to expire. Now Tom must either get a green card or leave the States—and leave Charlie behind. In a moment of impulsiveness, Honor agrees to help Tom with a marriage of convenience—and make her ex jealous in the process. But juggling a fiancé, hiding out from her former best friend and managing her job at the family vineyard isn't easy. And as sparks start to fly between Honor and Tom, they might discover that their pretend relationship is far too perfect to be anything but true love….
