Thriller

The career of Oscar-winning actress Teri Squire is on the skids following one bad movie after another. Her production company, as well as her lover, are ready to dump her. What Teri needs is an amazing screenplay, but where is she going to find one when nobody has any faith in her ability? Teri's salvation comes in the form of a most unusual bequest from a man who dies after falling from a cliff along a California highway. It seems he wrote a movie script especially for Teri, who isn't sure she even wants to read it. However, when the man's mother vehemently insists, Teri accepts the bequest and sets it aside. Of course, curiosity finally gets the best of Teri. What she reads is excellent, and her production team agrees it has to be made into a movie. Two years later, the movie is finally set to be released. What with all the hype concerning how the writer died and his special bequest to Teri, opening weekend ticket sales look to be astronomical. Teri's career is back on track and everyone involved is ecstatic over the outcome. But it all comes crashing down when an enigmatic stranger shows up making claims that the bequest is fraudulent. The entire project is in jeopardy as key players start turning up dead. When the cops think it's murder, and consider Teri a suspect, she has no choice but to run for her life. Mike Farris's THE BEQUEST is a wickedly twisted, fast-paced thriller that will keep readers enthralled first page to last. The plot is cleverly devised with many surprises in store until the suspenseful ending.

SUMMARY

In the wake of a series of flops, two-time Oscar-winning actress Teri Squires career is in a nosedive. She needs to find a great screenplay to fuel her comeback, but no working screenwriter wants to commit a masterpiece to someone who is box office poison. No one that is, except a despondent and unproduced writer who bequeaths his last script to Teri in his will then plunges off a cliff along the Big Sur coastline of California. In desperation, Teri accepts the bequestand discovers the script is brilliant. After turning it over to her production team, and with the hype surrounding the circumstances of the writers death, the movie is on target for a blockbuster opening weekend that promises to resurrect Teris careeruntil a mysterious stranger shows up at her doorstep and casts doubt on what really happened that night at Big Sur. As her comeback descends into chaos, Teri finds herself as the prime suspect in a bizarre murder.
