Morgan Edwards grew up marveling in faery tales of ancient Wales spun by her nainie, (Welsh for grandma) but she is all grown up. She is a veterinarian who now believes in science and things she can see. She has no idea that kindness to an enormous black dog would bring her face to face with those old tales and her very own STORM WARRIOR. It's only her first surprise ... there are many to come.
Two thousand years ago, Rhys, mortally wounded in battle was captured by the Fair Ones, Welsh Faery, and since that time he has been roaming the earth as a messenger of death. It is a single act of kindness that breaks the enchantment but he ends up in a strange world. Will this miracle bring him his hearts desire or will he now lose everything. The Fae don't like to lose their toys so what will they do to get him back.
STORM WARRIOR is a fantastic and enjoyable beginning of a new series. It is in turns a light and funny paranormal then hits you with a strong dose of just what someone will do to protect loved ones. I found Morgan a strong woman with her heart wide open to any who needed it. Rhys is a man's man but it was funny watching as he learned this new world he found himself in. I do not normally care for faery stories but I have read author Dani Harper before and wanted to see what she would do with this Welsh world. I am glad I did. Ms. Harper has a way with world building and creating characters, even those considered secondary, that add life, warmth and depth to any story. The romance might have been a little on the light side but what was there is unique and fitting for the characters. STORM WARRIOR is a nice beginning and I hope there are plans for many more books from this world.
