Mystery

What is a rain dog, and how does it get its intriguing title?

Trying to escape his life, Tom Coleman returns to his hometown to take care of the campground his grandfather left to him. Upping his alcohol intake, Tom also agrees to take on the challenge, which includes the lazy marijuana- smoking Duane and the troubled, angry teenager Scott as hired hands.

A few weeks after he's settled in, a fishing cabin mysteriously explodes. Tom believes the teenagers involved weren't just camping. Delving deeper, Tom discovers a surprising connection between his workers. But he's too involved with himself, after losing his daughter to cancer, to care.

Things go downhill after Tom catches Duane stealing from the cash box. A DEA agent steps in and tries to take over, but Tom has other ideas. Unwilling to hurt Abby, his first love and Scott's stepmother, Tom tries to shield her from the problems.

A few gunshots, a couple of corpses, a mysterious plotline and voila! -- you have a mystery. This one, however, takes a different angle. Instead of gruesome car chases and intriguing deaths, the mystery is about the characters more than the action. Tom and Abby are both suffering personal tragedies, Scott carries more drama than a soap opera and Duane is surprising. As for what a rain dog is? You'll have to read to find out for yourself.
