BOND OF PASSION is a wonderful read that I enjoyed very
much. It is a
Historical Romance, set in 1565 Scotland when castles had
moats
and Lords of Scotland had Clans who would fight to the
death for them and family.
Honor and trust are powerful
words to live by and Angus Ferguson, Earl of Duin is one
who lives by those words. There comes a time when he wants
to purchase
land from his neighbor the Laird of Rath, but to do so,
he must marry the Laird's eldest daughter Annabella.
The Laird of
Rath loves all of his daughters, but he's most concerned
about Annabella for she is very plain faced. Anabella is not
as beautiful as her sisters and she is well aware of it.
For most of her life, she's been told so, but Annabella has
much more going for her then beauty and Angus Ferguson,
Earl of Duin will soon find out when he signs the deal for
the land and marrys the Laird of Rath's daughter
Annabella.
Everyone, especially his half-brother Matthew,
keeps telling him that he's wrong in marrying a plain faced
woman, especially after Annabella shows her boldness,
intelligence and most of all that she has a very big heart
and is a
very caring person. This makes Angus want her even more and
does not care about her plain face. He cannot stop thinking
about Annabella, especially after the lust, warmth and love
they share in the bed chamber. Even though their marriage
was an arranged one through lands her husband wanted, they
fall in love. A love that many are jealous of, but if
anyone, even a member of his family speaks badly of
Annabella, he would put them out of his castle.
Angus is a very careful man and does not like to involve
his family in any politics. He wants to keep his clan safe
at all times, but when a storm starts to brew about Mary
Stewart, Queen of Scotland, can he truly protect all that
he loves? Will Annabella put her life on the line for her
husband who has been accused of treason? Will his Clan and
family stand with him? Both Angus and Anabella must
journey far and wide to prove his innocence. An exciting
journey where Annabella gives her husband a few surprises!
I laughed out loud in some parts of this story, loved the
fact that both Angus and Annabella fall in love in the
beginning of the book, leaving out all the needless drama
such as, picking apart daisies saying, "he loves me, he
loves me not", it was like a breath of fresh air! Annabella
will do anything to protect her loving husband and his
clan. She's a very brave woman who shows much caring and
kindness to others and the respect Angus has for his wife
is sweet!
When I sat down to read Bond Of Passion I thought I would
read a chapter or two, but got so swept up in the love story
of Angus and Annabella that before I knew it the day was
gone, and the book was finished. Add Bond of Passion to
your TBR pile and you won't be disappointed!
Bertrice Small’s breathless Border Chronicles continue as a
mysterious nobleman and his bartered bride untangle a plot
of illicit seduction and dangerous betrayal .
Called the handsomest man in the borders, Angus Ferguson,
Earl of Duin, avoids political intrigues in order to keep
his small clan safe. Now, in exchange for a piece of land he
has long coveted, he has wed the homely daughter of the
laird of Rath, Annabella Baird, whose tame demeanor hides a
wildcat. But an invitation to the court of Scotland’s Queen
Mary will test their marriage as they are tossed about in a
storm of deadly royal intrigue.
Mary’s unfortunate marriage to her cousin Lord Darnley has
driven her into the arms of James Hepburn, the dashing,
powerful Earl of Bothwell. When Darnley is murdered in
spectacular fashion, and his body barely cold before Mary
and Bothwell wed, the queen's adversaries retaliate with a
war that divides Scotland and tries the long friendship
between the Earl of Duin and James Hepburn—even as it tests
the bond of passion between Angus and Annabella in ways they
never expected.
