She's Having the Boss's Baby

Romance

I once read a story about a woman who fell in love with a man. Nothing too unique about that but you see he was a twin. The twins had been brought up believing you marry the one who can tell them apart. Having always remembered this little lesson it suddenly came to mind while reading SHE'S HAVING THE BOSS's BABY by Kate Carlisle. Nothing is more magical than falling in love and I don't think you can help but fall for these twins and the women who capture their hearts.

Nothing like a man who stubbornly resists any attempt to form a lasting relationship with a member of the opposite sex. Living in an idyllic resort where the temptations are abounding. So why short change yourself? Bikini clad women are a dime a dozen and Aidan truly appreciated these opportunities.

Members of Aidan's family have been catching the wedding bug -- one by one lately and so when he finds himself really noticing his senior vice president the ever organized and efficient Eleanor he blames it all on the nuptials messing with his head. In the middle of all this chaos both personal and business Ellie does the unthinkable and asks for a long vacation.

Well everyone's entitled to time off so why is Aidan so upset.

Ellie it seems isn't just going on a vacation. She is taking a huge life changing step and having a baby. Please understand there isn't a special someone in Ellie's life -- her dating life is practically nil. But that is not going to stop this enterprising woman from having the one thing she will not forego in her personal life. And that is a baby. A baby represents someone who will love her unconditionally. A little person who will bring something to her life she realizes is sorely missing.

Aidan has a real problem with this sudden decision of Ellie's. Since it is a personal decision you would think he would keep his distance. But somehow his reaction is just the opposite.

Here's where the fun begins. Aidan is having a tough time with Ellie's decision to have a child for so many reasons it's hard to list them all. But here are a few choice ones. He has an aversion to the whole turkey baster image with using a fertility clinic. Add to that he can't understand why Ellie has given up on the more natural approach after all she is intelligent and beautiful. Men should be lining up to date her. And now that image is also bothering poor Aidan -- picturing Ellie with these men.

Aidan is fighting his own battle with wondering why Ellie didn't approach him. Not that he has any intention of ever becoming a father. But best intentions sometimes are flittering when there is a strong attraction to a member of the opposite sex. Good sense flies out the window when the little green eyed monster makes an appearance.

Pretty hard to conceive a child and remain detached and yet Aidan brilliantly thinks his plan should work out well for both Ellie and him. Ellie would stay on the island content with her child and remain a trusted valuable employee for the resort. He would of course help with support and everything would be done in a legal professional manner.

Sorry to burst your bubble Aidan. You are about to venture into unknown territory and if a deal is brokered between you and Ellie be assured the outcome will be life changing. But perhaps unconsciously that is exactly what Aidan is hoping for. Stay tuned for the chase of a life time.

Kate Carlisle's story in SHE'S HAVING THE BOSS'S BABY is funny and delightful. Sure it sounds contrived but some of the best love stories start out as ill advised trysts. This story abounds with good cheer and at the same time tackles a time old problem. How do people who come from dysfunctional homes find the strength and confidence to start families of their own. Take the plunge, I assure you Carlisle's book will keep a grin on your face. Enjoy.

SUMMARY

All Systems Are Go!

Ovulation cycle? Check. Estrogen level? Check. Nothing can stop Ellie Sterling's baby-making attempt at the fertility clinic. Nothing but her CEO boss—and good friend—who offers her an alternative to leaving their island headquarters: let's make a baby the old-fashioned way.

It isn't that Aidan Sutherland wants to be a baby daddy; he just doesn't want to lose his senior VP. But Aidan's plans for romance and candlelight quickly turn business into pleasure. After one night with his pal Ellie, the bikini-chasing billionaire is dazed, confused and—could it be—in love?
