Kevin Wylie is a lawyer who thought he had everything going
for
him. A good job, and a woman he loves named Susan. Until
his
boss Bernie, catches wind that Kevin is going to leave the
firm and start his own business. Bernie is a criminal
lawyer, but also has some shady people that he works for.
THE ALLIGATOR MAN is full of twists. The first being that
after 28 years he hears from his
father. When Kevin was a young boy, his
father took off out of the blue. Now his father is dying
and wants to see
Kevin again. Susan is not real happy about the turn of
events that are now taking over Kevin's life.
Kevin decides he needs to meet with his father, maybe to
find out the real reason that he abandoned him when he was
young. Kevin finds his father in the hospital waiting for
surgery. After meeting with his father, Kevin goes to a
tavern to clear his head. He strikes up a conversation with
another patron Billy. As they converse, Kevin finds out
that he knows Billy. When Billy was a young boy, Kevin's
dad mentored him.
Roy Johnson a millionaire loves to drink a bottle of wine
late at night and than take a short walk. Roy was the owner
of a huge company. But has decided to close it down,
putting hundreds of people out of work. One of these
nightly walks takes him down to the swamp area. Deciding
that he has walked enough, he starts to return home when
suddenly a vehicle hits him and sends him flying into the
swamp.
The local authority has ruled this murder, and has dubbed
Roy as the Alligator Man.
As the case surrounding the murder continues, Billy becomes
the prime suspect. Billy worked for Roy Johnson. Not only
did he lose his job, his wife died and his best friend
committed suicide. Billy is innocent and Kevin along with
his father's help decide to take on the case. Through the
trial, we learn more how Bernie, Kevin's former boss is is
involved in this along with several of his former clients.
This is the second book that I read by James Sheehan. James
is a great writer, rating right up there with James
Patterson. James Sheehan was a lawyer and you can
tell by the way the book is written.
James brings you right into the court room and gives a lot
of the back story of this trial.
While James introduces different characters there is no
confusion
as to who the main players are in THE ALLIGATOR MAN. In
any good
case, there are small players who do have a part in the
trial.
James Sheehan keeps you guessing right up until the end. I
was hooked on this book from page one and sorry when it
ended.
Kevin Wylie's crooked boss wants to run him out of town,
and Kevin's long-time girlfriend is ready to take a hike.
He decides that now is the time to leave Miami, visit his
father, who he hasn't seen in 28 years, and get some
answers. Heading back to his hometown, he doesn't realize
that he and his dad will become embroiled in a murder case.
The victim, one of the richest and most-hated corporate
criminals in America has been dubbed The Alligator Man since
pieces of his clothing were found in a local swamp. Billy
Fuller had every reason in the world to want Johnson dead
and all the evidence leads right to his doorstep. But
legendary trial lawyer Tom Wylie believes in Billy and he
and his son reunite to fight the courtroom battle for
Billy's life.
The Alligator Man is a story of greed, anger, love,
redemption and two powerful trial attorneys who fight to the
end-- and risk everything--for the truth.
