In EXPLOSIVE Jayce Honeycutt is a Black Opals' demo specialist goes home for his sister's wedding only to see the girl he loves that left him so many years ago. Alyssa can't believe that she's seeing the man she loves and boy is he a sight for sore eyes!
What I loved about EXPLOSIVE the most was the plot. It was so thick and intense and a little scary to me at times but it was a good scary. Jayce and Alyssa agree to be together but all Jayce wants is one night, but when he finds out that she has been getting threats and the fact that her home and office were both broken into scare him and have him worried. So he decides to look out for her. I loved the tension and the romantic feel to this book, I was so wrapped up in EXPLOSIVE that I just couldn't put it down.
What I really didn't like about EXPLOSIVE was the character of Alyssa, I know she went through a lot with her past and it's a little sad about what happened to her. The author doesn't really go into too much detail but you can kind of guess what happened but I always felt like she was really needy and her friend Brice always enabled something that would end up badly.
Alyssa had a terrible thing happen to her in her past, her parents blamed her as a result though it wasn't her fault and that will do ugly things to a person forever. She made a stupid decision in her past to push Jayce away because her head wasn't on straight. I felt like she dragged Jayce's heart and feelings through the mud and didn't really care that she did it because she was so messed up about her past. I always felt while reading EXPLOSIVE that something was missing, I would have liked to see Jayce step up to the plate and be a man.
I really enjoyed this book overall, It was deep and intense and kept me hooked. I really liked the character of Jayce I felt like he was strong and knew what he wanted but just had to wait for Alyssa to make up her mind. This story is well written and has a great plot. I can't wait for more from Tori St. Claire.
