SHE LIKES IT IRISH by Sophia Ryan is a story of two college
grad students finding love with each other. Grad student
Kristin has not had sex in 2 yrs. She finally decides to
have sex with her project partner, Randy.
Back in his dorm room things are heating up between them,
only to have the action stop because he does not have
any condoms. Frustrated, Kristin dumps the contents of a
coffee mug full of pens and pencils from his desk, puts on
his shirt
and heads to his next door neighbor to borrow a cup of
condoms.
What greets her is a gorgeous, wide shouldered,
Irishman with perfect abs, wearing nothing but boxers and
sweaty
from a recent workout. After hearing what she wants, Sean
walks her back to Randy's room and lets them know that it
is past curfew and it is time for her to go and that he
will walk her back to her dorm. Sean is the RA for that
floor, so what he says goes. Sean walks her back to her dorm
and the chemistry between them begins to heat up. For the
next few weeks there are dates and kisses, but no sex.
Randy is jealous and tries several things to make the two
of them stop dating. Then there is Zoe, Kristin's roommate
who
is furious and very jealous that Kristin is spending so
much time with Sean and not enough time with her. Kristin
has no idea that Zoe is that jealous. From here the story is one about jealousy, friendship and
sex. The chemistry between Sean and Kristin is ok. I never
really clicked as a reader with them. I just felt like I
was reading about two people and really did not care one
way or the other if they got together. Zoe was really the
only character that seemed to have any personality. She is
messed up and crazy, but she had some depth. There were some
suprises in the book such as f/f sex. If you enjoy New
Adult you will like SOME LIKE IT IRISH.
SUMMARY
Kristin DeMarco vows to protect her broken heart and swear
off men until she finishes her degree and starts her career.
Survival sex -- a vibrator and a sizzling-hot roommate --
eases urges that can't be ignored, until her craving for a
man propels her from the arms of Mr. Wrong to the door of
Mr. Right. Irishman Sean O'Neill forces her to consider what
she really wants. And what she wants is him in her bed. Too
bad he's not cooperating. Sean is only in America for six months to complete his
degree and an archeology field school. He's as serious about
his education as he is about keeping his sex life casual.
When Kristin knocks on his door asking for condoms, the
encounter forces him to rethink that single-minded focus. He
wants Kristin for more than one night, but their secrets may
end the relationship before it begins.
Excerpt"Darlin', I told you we wouldna be deviating from the
schedule. Besides, do you really think I'm the kind of guy
who would try to make love to you on our first date?" Sean
asked.
Kristin stared into his sinfully hot eyes. "Yes, actually."
He laughed and wrapped his arm around her neck, hugging
her to his side and kissing the crown of her head. He
dropped his arm around her shoulders, holding her tight, and
she held onto his hand where it hung in front of her breast.
It made her smile that he hadn't denied it. "So... You're
not interested in charming your way up to my room or into my
panties, and you're dropping me off early. Sounds like you
have another date."
"I do."
Disappointment and jealousy raged through her body. She
let her hand fall from his and stared straight ahead. "Oh."
"Not so much a date as an appointment," he said, his
voice full of laughter as if he knew she was jealous as hell
and it amused him. "I tutor to help pay my way here. My next
appointment is in..." he glanced at his watch "...about
twenty minutes."
"Oh." She breathed and took his hand in hers again.
"With a male history student," he added.
She smiled and met his eyes. "You don't have to explain.
It's not like you and I are...you know."
He smiled down at her. "You looked like you wanted to
knock my head off."
She looked away, embarrassed that he had seen through her
so easily.
He stopped and faced her. "It's your eyes," he said, even
though she hadn't asked, and brushed a finger down the side
of her face, pulling her gaze back to his. "They say
everything your mouth doesn't want to."
She stared into his eyes, willing him to see what was
written there. To see her desire for him. "What are my eyes
saying now?"
He paused as if reading, translating the symbols he saw
in the depths. "They're saying I'll miss all my tutoring
appointments if I don't get you home fast. Oh, and just to
clarify, I never said I wasn't interested in getting into
your panties."
She laughed, but there was nothing funny about how the
sweet spot between her legs heated up as her mind lolled in
the idea of him getting into her panties.
